I stayed 3 months in PDC and a friend of mine just returned. Nothing about unsafety. But it can Always change when a gang war starts. I am in Thailand. Here you don't see much hard crime. But Thailand is the country with the most (deadly) motorbike accidents. Every time when it rains on the Island i could see a lot of people in bandages the next day. I think more tourist in Thailand get killed by motobikes than by crime in PDC. I was on Koh Samui last month and there a Thai jetski businessman was shot on the most popular beach by a thai competitor. You never know what happens. In the small city in Holland where i lived the neighbour got shot in his car in front of the apartments. Criminal payback. https://www.farang-deaths.com/cause/road-accident/ This could also happen; "Chon Buri - A 71-year-old Italian retiree collapsed and died while he was having sexual intercourse with a 22-years-old sex worker at his house in Chon Buri province" |

When I say 'good' I don't want anyone to be confused, it is as good as a low profile country can be, not more than that. |

Montenegro. A shithole, mate. I would not go. Residence is easy to get. I still like the idea of Italy the most. But 'liking' and 'making it' are two different sides of story. You'd be surprised I was thinking even about Kenya and Rwanda. |

But gas, electricity and fuel are expensive n Italy. Here, well said about Ukraine: |
Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia. Your money will go far in all of these places. Thailand is gaining in popularity in the last 3-5 years so prices are on the up but Vietnam is still pretty cheap.
Cambodia is also dirt cheap but it's a bit behind development wise of the others I mentioned. I went to Siem Reap last year and it's probably the poorest place I have ever been in my life. It was pretty good, great nightlife, nice hotels but walking thru the streets it's clear to see it needs another 5-10 years to catch up to just Thailand quality of life, let alone the Western Countries. |
If you are thinking of moving to some 3rd world country to save money just move to Alabama. :)

I've been to Alabama. Can's say how cheap it is in comparison to the neighbor states, but it's a really depressive one. P.S. Yes, I know the Easy Rider ends up in Florida. But still... |

Worst is that these south states were and still are a bit like this ... :2 cents: |

I also went to Cambodia last month after 18 years. 18 years ago there wasn't even an ATM machine. Only a few old cars and a lot of old motobikes. Now on every corner there is an atm, the city is full of new cars and new motorbikes. now there are also Streets full of entertainment bars where you pay to talk to woman (or more).
Phnom Penh was still dirty, filthy, stinking city. They realy don't know how to make that place much better and keep tourist that have money. The nicest area is full of cheap massage brothels and bars. Bangkok can be dirty, but Phnom Penh is realy dirty. But easy with visas. Also you have Happy Pizza Pizzerias. There you can buy pizza with marihuana :) You can also go in the kitchen and buy only the herbs so you can make a happy pizza at home. That is another reason why Cambodia is popular with backpackers. To Sihanoukvill or Siem Reap i go probably next month. What i have heard the Chinese bought all the nices places at the beach in Sihanoukville the last years and put them down to set up things for the Chinese tourist. I will see myself soon. But it all depends, if you have enough money you could built a nice villa with seaview and some studios to rent out for 200.000 USD somewhere in a nice condominium in south america like Brazil, Mexico, etcetra. But there must be places in Italy and Spain where you can do that also. In europe i would consider the canary islands also. I am also looking into Africa to stay there some months. But haven't seen a country that has my interest. Maybe i just go to some easy countries first like Cape Verde. |
