The fact is, the moving party knows those defendants, who will have had their assets frozen by now, can't fight back. It is an easy win for LE. "LOOK WE FUCKED UP BAD GUYS!!"

They will charge them with everything for which there is even a whiff of justification, and the court appointed lawyers will tell them to plead guilty to lesser charges. They will be shitting their pants when told they might get life, and will roll over to 6-10 years.

Low cost, quick win.

Porn industry will never be considered decent in the eyes of ordinary Jane and Joe, especially with all those moralists out there that are building their career on religion, family values and extreme child protection. Get back to reality. :2 cents:

So.. In your imagination there is the press covering decent pornstars and decent porn producers? ROFL... Think about it.. how does that sound to the humble person? :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

I agree the Internet press is exactly like that. I thought that was pretty much my point.

But, make no mistake, that is the narrative the current press is pushing, not something all the population believes or wants them to push.

In the 90's, my work (Blue Blood magazine and Black Leather Times) got tons of positive and accurate press from non-adult venues, including The Washington Post and The New York Times. Yes, the coverage from FOX was less flattering, but they were the exception then.

Yes, many people are ok with porn, those who are visitors of Pornhub certainly won't be against erotic movies, but most of them won't admit it publicly and don't want to be linked with it anyhow, because they are well aware of average people with kids, their friends, neighbours etc. who often consider porn business shady - similiar to prostitution - even if the biz is legal.

Does anyone boast publicly with their full name shown that they fuck prostitutes? I doubt it. Do they boast publicly with their full name shown that they watch porn? I don't know of anyone locally. And how about webmasters here who don't even tell their parents what they do? There were several threads about this and most of them don't tell their relatives or even friends. What are they affraid of? They are affraid of what I wrote above. It is a sensitive topic which can produce moralising enemies. And then all those religious groups that are openly fighting against the porn industry...

Show me a bank or a well known company which has no problem with their employees working as porn actresses in their free time. I am 99% sure these girls would be fired upon their boss finding out. Seems porn is not so decent for them too. :winkwink:

And lastly, even if there are people that watch porn, that does not automatically mean they also support it. There are so many hypocrites that watch porn and then moralise about girls doing porn, calling them whores. I see that every day.

The main reason why production of pornography is legal in modern countries is freedom of speech, not because the public support porn.

My point it that even the average Joe and Jane who sometimes watch porn and have no problems with porn industry in general, won't call it DECENT. They will call it DIRTY while still watching it.

:2 cents:

this is truth. the comments section heckles me for over a decade on the 'quality' of both amateur and pro-am talent of USA and canada girls. everyone knows what 90% of domestic porn girls look like in real life when they present their drivers lic. or show up in pajamas. if only the commenters could see them post shoot without the magic of makeup they would really have a day. the exception is foreign non-usa girls, they are without a doubt much higher calibre in looks department due to better quality diet and lifestyle

In the mid 90's, right before I got into running adult bookstores, I was a district manager for Hot Topic, going state to state and opening up new stores. In those early days Hot Topic carried Blue Blood magazine and some other merchandise (t-shirts and I wanna say some buttons/pins and stickers). Kinda funny to look back and think that you could buy Blue Blood in a mall store...

Feds Offer $10K Reward for Info About Fugitive GirlsDoPorn Owner

Quote:

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released this week a “Wanted” poster offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of Michael James Pratt, owner and operator of the now-shuttered GirlsDoPorn website.

Pratt has been a fugitive from U.S. federal authorities since late 2019. Pratt left the country before the October 2019 trial for the civil lawusit filed by 22 former models suing GirlsDoPorn for fraud. The civil trial — which a judge later decided against Pratt and GirlsDoPorn with a multimillion-dollar award to the plaintiffs — was overshadowed during the testimony phase by the unsealing of a parallel criminal case and FBI investigation against Pratt and his associates and employees for conspiracy and sex trafficking.

In late 2019, Pratt was presumed to be in his native New Zealand. Three of his associates are currently in federal custody, including main male talent Ruben Andre “Dre” Garcia, who has been accused of rape and sexual assault by some of the models.

This week’s FBI reward announcement claims that Pratt “has ties to or may visit: New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Singapore, Japan, Chile, Croatia and France.”

“From approximately 2012 to October 2019, in the Southern District of California and elsewhere, Michael James Pratt and others allegedly participated in a conspiracy to recruit young adult and minor women to engage in commercial sex acts by force, fraud and coercion,” reads the Wanted poster.

The FBI alleges that “Pratt and a co-conspirator owned and operated a pornography production company and online pornography websites, ‘GirlsDoPorn’ and ‘GirlsDoToys.’ Pratt and his co-conspirators allegedly recruited young women from around the United States by posting advertisements for clothed modeling jobs on the Internet. Pratt and his co-conspirators advised the women responding to the ads that the jobs were in fact for pornographic videos and that they would be paid between $3,000 to $5,000 U.S. dollars for a one-day video shoot.”

“To persuade the women to participate,” the FBI continues, “Pratt and his co-conspirators allegedly convinced the women they would remain anonymous, that their videos would be provided to private collectors on DVD, and would not be posted on the Internet. Pratt allegedly paid other young women working at his direction to act as references or provide false assurances to the women that, if they filmed a video, the video would not be posted online.”

According to the poster, “some women were not permitted to leave the shooting locations until the videos were made and others were allegedly forced to perform certain sex acts they had declined to do. Allegedly, some of the women were sexually assaulted.”

The FBI added that “Pratt's pornography websites generated more than $17 million U.S. dollars in revenue.”

A federal arrest warrant was issued for Pratt in the United States District Court, Southern District of California, on November 6, 2019.

Pratt’s whereabouts remain unknown.

sucks for them

sirkonstantine 10-16-2020 07:36 AM

Holy shit. I just read GDP's Wikipedia page. I was at first doubtful of their guilt but, fuck, these guys are skim bags!

Here's a list of shit they did:
* told girls that they won't be paid or won't receive their returning flight or would have to pay back the hotel if they didn't have sex.
* collected personal information such as parent's names, real names, etc and posted them online after they were filmed.
* released GIFs of them having sex to their friends without their consent.
* mislead them into acting in a porn that's distributed online -- this is sorta dumb on their part but GDP used actresses who said that the company could be trusted.
* refused to stop filming after the girls complain of pain

They were managing an 18 million USD per year company. The lawsuits were bound to come with behavior like that. Pratt is an idiot. This wasn't the mainstream going after a pornographer. This was society going after an idiot who's a walking liability. If Pratt was a better businessman, wait, no, if Pratt was a businessman at all, he wouldn't tolerate such behavior.

What they needed to do was get off of their high horse, check their egos, check their misogamy, and do some serious business. It could have been a really good business for them but, nope!, they fucked up, lost the business, owe people restitution money, and might face jail time (?). Not sure about the jail time as the Wikipedia article doesn't say anything about a criminal charge.

According to the United States Department of Justice, the website and its sister website GirlsDoToys generated over $17 million in revenue
I believe, that is total revenue for all those years. Not per year.
