Europe - kids in school last spring with no masks. Everything okay.
Europe - Softer lock downs than USA (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Holland). Everything okay.

Hawaii - high mask usage, cases spiking
Japan - high mask usage, cases spiking.

Masks have nothing to do with stopping the spread.

It is real and it can be bad. But you need to look at stats overall and not just one or two cases to say whether it is serious or not.

Prince Charles had a mild cold at age 70 something? Many nursing home residents were asymptomatic or had mild colds too.

I have no idea what the status of ICU rooms are in Southern California.

Two friends of mine have died from it. One was overweight and had diabetes. The other was 74 year old male. Died on a ventilator after 48 days.

Several people I know who are between 20 and 35 got it and all recovered. Two had wives who got it as well, but were asymptomatic.

If you look at the statistics 96% of the people who died had a comorbidity (aka they were in bad health already) and the average age of death was 79. Lockdowns and masks are ineffectual. New York locked down and then afterwards had 30k deaths. Most people are catching covid from friends and family where masks just aren't going to work. Public transmission is rare. Asymptomatic transmission is rare. The only countries that have really dodged covid are the countries that are exceptionally healthy, have excellent hygiene, and mostly avoid kissing/hugging/share food, etc. Countries like Japan and Taiwan. Most of the world will reach herd immunity before the vaccine ever gets here. Some places like New York, UK, Italy, Sweden already have herd immunity. The bottom line is that lockdowns don't work & masks don't work. What works is being healthy, good hygiene, not sharing food and not swapping spit with relatives.

It was a cough and then grasp for air. Parents got something in February, flu but their words... "damn, that cough was relentless, almost like pneumonia". Supposedly there is a woman in our village that is in the hospital with it but she's morbidly obese. Her neighbor (they live in oen of those houses that is like two houses in one) had symptoms but we have those german antibody tests, gave her one and it came back negative. Haven't heard of anyone else. Wife is an ortodontist so we have alot of hospital/medical friends.

What I've heard so far from them is that the PCR tests are about 70% accurate. People are getting the swabs done and having positive, then negative, then positive, then negative results. Also heard from a doctor that works at hospital here that they are now avoiding putting people on respirators because the death rate for respirators was like 95%. Almost everyone that has died was 70-100 years old.

There's about 14k active cases in Poland right now. I don't really know what to think of it to be honest. The masks probably don't do shit and I doubt that Polish people have such substantially better hygiene/hand washing then Americans. Probably some combination of genetics, alcohol consumption and the mandatory tuberculosis vaccinations everyone since 1955 has had.

I don't understand the mask thing. They are just dirty face nappies for the vast amount of people.
They should be medical grade and used in a sanitised enviroment for a particular purpose or job then removed and discarded safely (much like glove wearing) once the task is finished.

Instead, we have half the world wearing homemade and/or cheap Chinese non medical grade masks that are constantly touched and adjusted with unclean hands and are kept in dirty trouser pockets, in shopping bags or even on the floor of your cars.

I bet 90% never get washed or the 'one use disposable' ones are used many times over.

In the UK, our cases were going down while masks were not mandatory but now mandatory indoors, cases are going up again.

Meanwhile, regular flu has killed many more in the last weeks than Covid here but of course, the news won't mention that and continues with the Covid fearmongering.

Your assuming the mask is being worn to protect the person wearing it. As a barrier to to stop large airborne particles we all emit during normal speech the mask is very effective no matter how fucking dirty it is or if its your boyfriends panties.

Covids not that hard to control, lock down hard for 40 days, keep isolating known contacts, then proceed with caution.

It's been the same with every pandemic since 1000BC the difference is this time we are not hoping that it just "goes away", but we can actually medicate/vaccinate against it.
