Seems like it’s just pornhub, like this decision was just about them and not the industry or even the tubesite model

This industry has needed a good shaking up for along time...not sure if this will be the one we wanted though! Only time will tell now!!

I didn't know that. Thanks for for filling me in.
You'd think they'd just wipe the entire account when that happens though.

Honestly it's amazing that it went on for as long as it had.

As the press is very connected with the woke left these days there could be a very intense witch hunt precipitated by this.

it is not the big brands like PornHub that are the enemy, it is people and sites that are right under your noses, yet you miss them because you are going after the easiest target.

Because this is the thin end of the wedge. They picked on the industry leader because it's kind of decapitating the adult industry. Hilarious, or maybe tragic, seeing so many porn webmasters gloating over their demise. If they can take down Pornhub, they can take down the entire industry. That's certainly their aim.

Remember, the problem in this case was that legit sex crimes where being uploaded by PornHub users. Most billers such as Epoch do routine audits of site content I expect this to increase, perhaps better enforcement of 2257/documentation.

While PornHub seems to be taking big steps toward compliance, I believe the "freeze" will probably not be restored anytime soon, maybe never. I doubt that Visa/MC would roll out a freeze industry wide - however its possible that sites using Visa/MC to access user generated content (UGC) could lose processing in the long run.

You guys do know this will be a trickle-down effect right? 2257 happened during the Bush administration they do things like this every 10 years or so to porn, but it was to regulate the dumb asses actually uploading the unlawful content. Porn hub tries to be compliant by making users show ID etc. but i guess that wasn't enough for visa/master card. but once things hit the press, the companies act fast to save face so they won't be blamed for things out of their control.next it will be onlyfans, we all know how some on these youngsters are getting behind their systems by, sharing accounts using fake IDs etc. all of you content owners are yelling yaaa!! but dont be too happy everyone will be effected by this.

I wouldn't worry too much right now.

Visa/MC are legally obliged to refrain from processing in connection with illegal activity. They had no choice. So long as your site doesnt have illegal content, industry will be fine. However, sites that allow user generated content (ie tubes, forums) will likely face strict regulation in the near future.

The Porn Nerd 12-10-2020 05:51 PM

If the tubes only posted Content Partner material or content they licensed/bought there would be no (or at least fewer) issues.

Like most producers, I make good money from the premium tube sites and if they are unable to bill we will take a big loss financially

Thanks, I hope they find some way to alternative billing methods, but the prospects don't look good.

The other big issue is it going to really affect the models

f Visa and Mastercard have banned all MindGeek and next ban the WebGroup (xVideos) sites this is a list of the production companies are apart of them:

MG - Brazzers, Digital Playground, Mile High Media, Property Sex, Babes, Twistys, Reality Kings, Fake Hub, Metro, Deviant Hardcore, Squirted, etc plus the MyDirty, Clips4Sale and ModelHub platforms

https://www.adultforce.com/client.html#/network/

Add in all the brands owned by WebGroup - Penthouse, Legal Porno, DDF, Girls Gone Wild, Private, Girlfriends Films, Bang Bros

That is over half of the content that is shot in the US and Europe and models, since models will have no work these will affect every producer as they won't be able to make a living shooting porn and will not get in the industry.

This doom scenario may not happen Dan.
Remember that these sites process a fuck ton of $$$ with MC & Visa and money always wins out in the end.

Clean up & delete any offending material and all those platforms should be good to go. It may take a month or two but I'm sure everyone is scrambling to comply.

This may be the threshold moment where crypto becomes a "mainstream" payment method.

Mindgeek is more fortunate than we were when the cc companies dealt their first major blow to adult internet. Back then, there was no alternative. Now, it's only a question of whether the customers are dedicated enough to move onto a crypto payment mechanism.

Once that shift happens (if it ever does) it will just be the cc companies that are hurt from their actions.

There will undoubtedly be some serious first and second-order consequences for everyone in the adult biz in the short and medium-term from this event. Everyone in our industry is involved in the revenue stream from the Mindgeek ecosystem in some direct or indirect way. But things may work out so that in the longer term, our industry is stronger and more resilient and much less dependant on the establishment financial industry that has been weaponized against us for decades (just think about how hard it is to get a bank account in the USA as a sex-worker or industry company and you'll realize how deeply weaponized it has become).

Anyway, maybe good long term, and may be a coming of age for crypto. (side-note, I bought more BTC when I heard the news).

My buddy who is an attorney and also in the biz long time thinks this will resolve itself. he's saying this is a tactic by Visa to ensure companies change their policing of videos policy by forcing them to hire mass teams of video watchers , only use verified uploads stuff like that.
I hope so as my porn career is over if I lose my tube cashflow. I will sell everything.

The right uses due process. The left kicks & screams. But this is about videos depicting actual underage girls. There is no debate. That’s that. They dun goofed.

Hey Dan,
Don’t you have your own pay sites as well?

XSAXS 12-11-2020 12:52 AM

I believe as others have said... this will blow over eventually, and MindGeek be processing V / MC again soon enough. The CC companies are prisoners to regulators too. So everyone has to make flamboyant, public demonstrations showing their outrage - and how much they care - and how much they're doing to save face with the various political fire breathers.

The bigger (longer-lasting) issue is that companies with the reach and resources of MindGeek won't sit idly hoping, praying they get their CC accounts turned back on. Love 'em or hate 'em, they'll find a way to continue.

Porn wins. It will always find a suitable vehicle. RIP Betamax.

I expect a variety of bold, industry-wide campaigns educating users about the relative ease, features, and privacy of crypto payments. Then all the countless cucks who are afraid to use a credit card... they can get in the game too.

In the end, porn wins.

RIP V/MC.

Konda 12-11-2020 12:53 AM

They can just move the model stuff and premium program etc to a separate website and apply for new merchant accounts
