I always look for Amazon warehouse deals for appliances. other than damaged packaging, they are perfect

Cucik 12-12-2021 11:49 AM

I have an air fryer but I don't use it too often, I don't have enough time. I heard Ninja air fryers are top notch, but I can't decide between these two models:

next time you do fish see if you can get any halibut locally, it's got way better flavor than tilapia

but yeah, absolutely yum looking

glad you're having so much fun with the machine =)

How long did that take? Looks really good, love the crust you can get on tilapia. I have it 2-3 times a week and go for a similar effect.

It took 20 minutes at 400 air fry. Flip it at 10 mins, then again at 15 minutes.
You don't have to do 20 mins though. I like my fish cooked "over well" and crispy skin; you might like it less cooked.

Home depot has construction materials on sale this week.

k, so my dad is in his 70's and has had 2 heart attacks and a stroke

he's fine, just can't fuck around with the lifestyle that brought him there

he really loves his comfort food which for him is stuff he really should not be eating

it's a challenge for my mom to encourage him to eat well without feeling like she's nagging. I feel the same when I talk to him

when I was talking to my mom this evening I decided to mention the fryer, and your enthusiastic journey with it, after seeing that 'fried' fish vid

turns out my dad the foodie and gadget man was already looking at them, and recipes for them

I sent them both a copy/paste of the product and a link to your vid

this was what I got in reply, no lie:

"Loved the video. We weren't going to give gifts to each other, but Dad is going to buy one tomorrow for our gift. He'd been looking at them and the recipes so glad you mentioned it."

so on behalf of those of us wanting to keep my father kicking strong, merci monsieur *doffs cap*

obv had to crop out his face for privacy reasons but wish I didn't have to, he's smiling ear to ear with delight. not sure if it's the anticipation of fries to come or just having a reason to buy a new gadget (prob both) but either way, my dad is a happy man today. the fat free version too :upsidedow

but yeah, this will be really good for him

Do you have a sous vide?

I'd add that to your list next.

Get a 'Beefer' $.02. 1500 deg, cooks a steak MR in less than 4 min. Think Ruth Chris

I've decided to go propane, I'll cook outside. Have all the stuff I need. Griddle, grill, smoker, broiler.

Nice try bro; but BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

NEW video :

My lighting was not good; so my comment about it turning out better is greatly exaggerated.
It's looked way better under my stove light.

This was one of the best I ever made. Doing a pan fry makes zero sense to me now.

The chicken comes out crispy out side but inside is moist and piping hot. Let cool down at least 5 mins before eating!

My fryer needed to be wiped down before this video; but it shows how much I'm using it.

It's hard for me to believe; but I can't tell that an air fryer was used. No way!
The clean up is nothing compared to when I pan fry chicken.

$140 US

I already feel like it was worth it after just one meal.

The chicken wings with no oil or flour, just spices, was favorite.
But the fried chicken with flour is close to a tie.
The rib eye steak was in the running; but I personally like chicken more than steak so...

I've made mini-meatloaf(1/2 LB) twice and it comes out perfect at 325F for 15 minutes.
Eggs are the fault though. Eggs without oil come out edible but can't measure up to skillet.
To get a good fried egg you need to preheat oil in the bottom then drop the egg in with a ladle. :1orglaugh

List of what I've made and liked :

fried chicken
chicken wings
fried fish
french fries
hash browns
baked meatballs
sausage, link and patty
hot dogs
hamburger
meatloaf
beef ribs
pork chop
rib eye steak (AWESOME!)
garlic bread
scrabble eggs (took too long though, have to stop to scramble 6-7 times)

:)

Ribeye is probably my favorite cut of any meat. How did you prepare it? I typically do the Alton Brown method and it works great, though I have done the last few sous vide with great results as well.

I just put salt, black pepper and Thyme on it completely thawed.
Air fried at 400F, I think it took 12 minutes, can't remember but stopped to check it at 10.
Did not flip; but had plenty of space for air to go under cooking grate.
Was medium rare and juicy.

:thumbsup

I forgot scallops and shrimp were good too.

I'm not sure about the times on the steak. Better check it after 6 minutes; because a regular sized thawed hamburger is well done in 6 minutes.
Just made one. Way faster than going to McD's.

Perfect egg over easy in air fryer.
The secret is to preheat oil in pan and spray top of egg with oil.
