Once my latest project is released, I hope to go to some shows again!


God... I'll never forget the day I had the yuuuuge chicken burger at the Luxe cafe in Vegas, in the Venetian, then I went to some awesome dinner hosted by I forget at the Ghost Bar.


The Phoenix Forum memories I have were all amazing too! That was such a great show. All those photos over the years by JFK and I don't know where to find them all. I remember someone being pissed at me because I spilled the beans about Kate from Kate's Playground being pregnant, like I knew it was going to be a big deal!

I think Phoenix Forum was my favourite, partially because Steve Lightspeed is a fun guy and it is in his area, and partially because the field trip we made to House of Blues was so memorable. What were people doing in those booths?!? Ohhh shit... don't spill the beans!

Sadly I never went to the Phoenix Forum! It was definitely supposed to be the best one, too. The only US show I have been to was the Vegas ones when they were still held at the Hard Rock Hotel. I stopped going because, every damn year, people got sick from breathing in all the same dungy toxic fumes from that wretched hotel. LOL

For European shows I really like the Prague one coming up but the ones in Berlin can be fun, too. I never went to the more exotic locales like Cyprus or Mallorca but I got the feeling it was the same group of people going from show-to-show so once I hit a couple I was pretty much done.

i can't fault you. marketing is a full-time job.

there's new channels and strategies every year. you have to keep up to grow.

i understand being comfortable. i hit that point all the time. however stability and stagnation always lead to decline. its a law of growth.

partnering with a marketing person is good, if you can find one who keeps up with new trends and won't cheat on their timesheets. a stagnating marketer might as well go work at a restaurant (and they probably do!)

i know some marketers who have been doing the exact same campaigns for years. you can see the gradual declines in their sales.

so yea, marketing is crucial, and also hard work :helpme:1orglaugh

Had a good chuckle : So, I should trust anybody I meet "on the Internets" ? :winkwink: Over the years I've read here this SEO guy fucked me, this marketing expert took my money and did not do anything, I even had a guy to tell me the best way is to let our stuff be pirated, to get traffic... Fuck all that.

It is easy to check how much our site grosses per month..... then if somebody comes about and does not give me stupid suggestions like buying traffic or let our stuff be pirated.... then I would suggest to my bosses to split 50/50 any increase on monthly bases above the main..... So if the site ( keep the numbers simple) grosses 10,000 in a month and then it goes to 15,000 then we would pay 2,500, but if the marketing cost was 5,000 then we would pay " bupkis"....I call it a performance bonus.

... and so it goes.

yea few webmasters or marketers will accept a revshare deal these days. that's why they invented affiliates :1orglaugh

The thing is about 'marketing' these days is that, in this new landscape, the outlets for traffic have shrunk big time. If you do not do tube promotions what other sites have the traffic numbers you can tap into?

Ad sales only work under certain circumstances (not great for paysites), link trades/buys do ok depending on the source but tend to 'run out' in terms of effectiveness relatively quickly these days...so it can be frustrating and can lead to the stagnation you mentioned.

Depending on how many videos you have to use for tube promos there is definitely a way to do a 50/50 split where it's all profit for you. This is what I do for many Producers. But I also understand the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality. :)

so look at it backwards not forwards.

1. who is your target customer for each of your billion sites? what do they look like? what kind of house and cars do they have? how much money do they have? are they married, retired, in college, or living in a van down by the river?

2. where do they hang out socially? are they all closet bbq dads in the suburbs? do they hang out in gay goth clubs? are they online at all? what sites and forums?

3. how do you get a message to them? social media, thru friends, PR in a gay goth newsletter?

we're fully in the pull not push marketing era. one member at a time. it sucks. its hard work and its slow. but they rebill forever.

In any given year we'll make 3 to 4 movies,This started in 2003.... We still sell the oldest movies on our VOD platform, not many times, but lets say 30 x /year, so lets say $1000 /year to us. Now, if I would put one of these " old Dogs" on lets say Xvideos, I doubt it would give me $1,000 per year. If I had our movies on any tube basically our VOD business would go down to zero.

FYI: we also have a mainstream movie business and there we do license to AVOD streaming companies like Tubi TV,Amazon,Digital Max etc.... but we do NOT do that ourselves we do that thru a distributor .

Well TBH if your VOD of older titles brings in but $1000 a year then I would actually disagree with you when it comes to tubes and Content Partner sites. You can always PM me or on Skype for more specific details but if you did what you suggested you would make way, way more than $83 monthly as you do now from VOD. :)

You misunderstood :error

The 1000/ year is from ONE 20 year OLD movie. The 10 year old movie will make about 3,000/ year and the newer ones closer to 5,000 . Never mind the newest one or two.Those are recouping costs so I do not count them for 3 to 4 months after release.

Now, lets say that from about 60 movies we have:

20 are the old crap
20 are in between
20 are recent

so do the math from there
