I think you might need a passport for ID to get a provisional license! It is cheaper to get a provisional license but I think a passport will be better for when I have to identify myself. So I'll just renew my current passport which recently expired. And there is always the possibility that I will win a holiday abroad. So having a passport will be useful then!

Honestly after reading the stupidity in your replies, I hope you lose your shit.

Same here. What's wrong with these people. Lazy fuckers, that's for sure. And probably money launderers.

That is probably the CC processor's view right there.
IDs prove them wrong. Imagine that. :)

easier for me to open a corp in Delaware than Cyprus or some such. maybe not right for eveyone, but worked best for me. I'm not American and have never lived there but I wanted a corp that would play nicely with US banks, which I needed for both accepting and sending payments

I wasn't suggesting the OP open a US corp, just that US bank rules tend to flow outwards. so just do it all at once, get the passport, go to a JotP, have them scan it/stamp it

getting a notarized scan would be handy to have if the need arises. might as well do it all at once and then boom! done

@Marlowe, will not be that huge a hassle. if I can renew my Canadian passport from the embassy in Jamaica you'll have it easy being a Brit in the UK. good luck and get it done

PS I saw the Sheffield address on your DownBlouse site. did you ever read the Adrian Mole series? they're so good, the first two especially. that part of the country might get a few mentions

Even clicking thru the ccbill link the join page shows this

But on the topic of ID, seriously, just pay the £80 for a passport.

That's just a temporary thing. We're having to stop new members joining whilst we remove all the dance videos. Posted about that in another thread. We've let all the current members know that they need to finish off downloading the dance videos before they are removed. If we were getting new members every day we'd never have the chance to remove the dance videos.

I suppose it's not much of a hassle but it's just a big chore that I'd rather not do. But it should be straightforward to do and it's something I'm definitely going to do. There's no way really of avoiding it.... I didn't read any of the Adrian Mole books but I do remember watching the TV series in the 80's. It was very good. Julie Walters played his mother and Beryl Reid played his grandmother. Can watch some of the tv series on YouTube:

that's so cool, gracias! passed the link on to my mom too, we're both huge fans of the books and used to have a rule that if we were in the car together we were not to talk about them cuz she almost ran us off the road once when we were in gales over green lurex aprons and bath cubes. I've never seen the series, looking forward to watching these

the books are SO good, right brilliant as you Brits would say, def worth checking out

good luck with your passport

They were incredibly popular books which were very popular all around the world. I think they were set in Leicester. That's where Sue Townsend was born. Leicester is about 70 miles from Sheffield.

Nice interview with Sue Townsend here:

You and your mum should be able to find more episodes on YouTube.

I've now got an up-to-date photograph for my passport and will fill in the online form tomorrow to get one. It will be very useful to have a passport as more and more companies are wanting to check your ID. So it will be useful to have one ready.
