From the source:

"When AI is allowed, developers can use any tools they choose (primarily Cursor Pro with Claude 3.5/3.7 Sonnet—frontier models at the time of the study "

see, this makes sense to me. if one can actually code/program/develop then running through prompts to direct a model to help on anything more than specific, basic tasks would take extra time

huge proponent of AI over here, though sparingly. I don't grab chatGPT answers just for kicks or use a browser than auto-includes AI answers as I would like to minimize my usage of excess water/energy (bye bye Chrome AI)

did start an AI clone project of me with a client a while back but bailed cuz it got too creepy, think I'd watched too much Black Mirror. if my AI ever became sentient she'd wish death 'pon me for putting her in a box and the whole thing just didn't feel right

right now, in my spare time, with zero experience, I'm coding a bot. just something that would be super useful to me and no doubt others in my adult niche. not a commercial project, when I finish it I'll give it to them for free after I get it working for me. using Claude

it's a spare time thing just to try something new, I'm not worried about my lines of work disappearing any time soon. simply I like new stuff and t'would be neat to teach to the kiddos I tutor

the other day someone elsewhere linked to a site that ref'ed the story you posted and others. aihorrorstories.com

"I have made a catastrophic error and betrayed your trust"

kinda hilarious. like really, AI gonna do us like that? guess it really is shaped in our image :1orglaugh

I dunno, weird the zero sum game approach by some in this thread. bizarre when I'm one of the ones preaching anything to do with that whole 'balance' thing :upsidedow

Bots are cool and can be super useful. You can train it, almost like your pet. :thumbsup

meh, I have pets. very cuddly and reasonably well-behaved but can't really say I 'trained' them. my cat scratches her catnip sprinkled cardboard box (which is replaced often) instead of furniture and my goat eats apple chunks instead of laundry on the line. in both cases I think I bribed them into making more pleasing choices, but a part of me would like to think they behave cuz they love me

who cares. I know they do love me, and they deserve treats either way

the bot will just be a simple tool to streamline an annoying part of work for those of us in my particular niche of adult, but the application itself generic enough that I don't have to jump through any hoops re NSFW/adult content in creating it. the bot itself will be totally vanilla, I'll just use it for prurient purposes

when in the past I needed an entire system created for a since-sold online biz, I hired a programmer. no way I would have had the time to mess around with AI even if it existed to this extent eight or so years ago

I told him what I needed, he did it, the price was reasonable, it worked perfectly, and I made two friends for life in the process

even given AI advancements in the here and now, I'd make the same choice today on every level, particularly since that project was time-sensitive

firm believer in the concept of time cost. if I can make more money per hour over what it costs to hire someone I trust, and/or do something meaningful to me even if unpaid with that saved time? worth it

this bot is kinda fun though. probs only spent 45 mins on it thus far, beyond writing out what I wanted it to do longhand in my notepad cuz I think better that way

have broken it down into portions/blocks and Claude is being great at explaining to me what the code means. I don't want to just copy/paste, I do want to learn something

figure I'll be done in the next week or so, it's not time-sensitive

not gonna anthropomorphize a bot, though I will name it. will probably call it Clive or Chloe, I like those names. I'll praise it as a good bot I guess

as to the thread debate, AI is not a zero sum thing. simply a matter of adapting to and negotiating changing realities

welcome to life

This right here. People don't connect as much with all the tech. I'm pretty sure some of these "futuristic" movie scripts will be reality soon.

For sure, AI can def be a great learning tool. I used some tools back in the day to learn as well. I suppose AI would have been much easier to deploy a site than say netscape wysiwyg editor or front page, both equally the shit at the time for learning html.

Share the bot once you're done! I asked Mindi to share, but I think she got spooked or something. lol

Yeah, cats are awesome and crazy at the same time! Give them something to chase and they'll bee like ..

Code:

I probs will, not sure if it will be of use to many here but amongst peers elsewhere I def think it will be useful. for sure it will be for me. will probs get back to it on Sunday evening. in order to learn as I go need the time and solitude to concentrate, which esp on weekends isn't realistic online or off. this is just for fun so no pressure for me, that in and of itself is inherently enjoyable
