6 years later I still feel the same about this --- I just don't care what people want to call it. Soccer, football, whatever. Why let what other people say drive you crazy? To me it's SOCCER. When I was a kid and signed up for this sport the signup sheet said "SOCCER TRYOUTS". If it had said "football" it would have been an entirely different sport and I'd have had to spend a shitload of money for all the equipment necessary to play it.

But if I'm talking to people from EU, UK, etc, I'll refer to it as football. I don't see why the need for any hangups about it. Who cares?

I do know I'm very much looking forward to the FIFA world cup. Not sure which country I'll be rooting for this go-round, but I'm pretty sure Canada won't be in it. lol

i disagree, basketball is the most boring sport ever. Two tribes of freaks run up the court bouncing a ball, pop it in a hoop then run down to the other end and do the same. repeat endlessly.


BTW, in answer to the original question, its football not soccer and its the greatest sport ever invented.

I don't care what you call the game I know as Football. If you call it soccer I'm not offended.

So if we call "the boot" of a car just that, I don't care that you call it "the trunk". I don't need you to change anything about it, period. I accept the fact that you take our language to make it your own. It's evolutionary, so whatever. I got over that a long time ago. People here will fight over anything, and say just about anything to justify that fight. It's pretty sad.

As long as you respect that it's the worlds most popular sport, and that the vast majority of the world call it Football then we're good. Diss on that and you can GFY.

Ok, it's football, but here in the USA they play it with a soccer ball. But that's so we can tell the difference between football and football.
