I'm not missing the point. He accused P2Pads of something... without proof. That's a bannable offense on GFY.
All I am offering is a chance for him or anyone to prove those statements.

You guys are the ones putting up the smokescreen of speaking in generalities... how you feel about installs that steal ref codes. That's all well and good. But P2Pads is the only company name in the title. So again, please provide a file to back up this accusation. If I install it and it replaces my ref codes... I will concede that you are all correct.

This is the title of the thread:

"P2PADS will sell traffic for installs. "

Please show me where it says that p2pads installs something on its own site.

also DH - you never ever ever answered my question previously

how much of your business - income comes from installs?

I guess your fucked huh...
you say almost nothing - then everyone jumps on you for standing up to this
you say its a pretty good part of your business - then everyone jumps on you for spreading the crap on the toast

With this type of issue, the generalities are what matters: p2pads is just one operator and in the long run of no real significance. Therefore the specifics of what he is doing are of even less significance.

Some people pop up on threads like this, who appear to think everything is fine so long as the person doing something is "cool". They and the majority who avoid such threads are apparently unwilling to confront things which will damage them long-term, even though many plan to be around long enough to be affected. That is just ludicrous.

There are currently no customers that are directing traffic through P2P Ads directly to a software program.

WDjay 10-06-2006 08:22 AM

PREDICTION>>>>>>> Ok, here is how this thing will play out. A couple years from know all the companies everyone is complaining about will STOP doing the things that are making you all so upset. YOU WILL CLAIM VICTORY, shouting from the rooftops. It was your voice that made the change. Truth is that it was the market that changed and you had nothing to do with it. Here is what I can tell you about GTS and other large successful companies. While you complain, they are working on the next generation of products and services. Things nobody is complaining about because they are things nobody has see yet. Then you will complain about those. Its a cycle. There are only a small % of people who inovate. They get rich without breaking laws. They think ahead and use thier time wisley by thinking outside the box. And of course thier will always be the large % who dont. MARK< MAGNUS,,,,,fuck the haters. You'll be building and growing long after they are gone.

key word = currently
key word = customers

what % in the past?
what % was the maximum?
do you guys push installs on 'left over' traffic so that would not qualify as 'customer'?

if the % is really sooooooo loooooowwwww

then why not just make a policy against it - anounce it and look like heros listening to your customer base?

be realistic about it - the overwelming majority of people in the business are against it

Looks like not everybody knows how to use the simple tools we have available today. You still have a red X in your signature. I hope future innovations are not that complicated.

I doubt this thread would have ever been started if DrinkingHard hadn't told will76 to mind his own business in a thread about affiliate codes(commissions) blatantly being stolen.
Why would DrinkingHard support that? If anything he gave a negative impression about the type of installs he is doing.
He says he is not promoting zango in this thread, but his buddies are, or at the very least were, and doing a 'fair amount of installs' if I remember the thread right.

P.S. -- Do you really think you supporting him gives any credibility, given the kind of software you 'sell'?

That is about the only true thing you wrote.

It is much easier and more profitable to squeeze a restaurant owner for protection money than to run a restaurant. Does that make the guy running a protection racket smart and therefore the restaurant owners should approve of him, regretting their own stupidity in working harder for less money.

According to your argument that is exactly how they should feel. You may deny that and say we are not discussing things which are illegal, but the point is exactly the same. An industry consists of businesses which exist to create and serve a customer base. It attracts people who provide products and services to help the industry function (better). And unfortunately it also attracts predators: those who provide nothing whatever except a way for themselves to make money from other peoples' labor, passing on a few crumbs to those who help them. The practical effect is exactly the same, whether their activities are legal or not.

LMAO@ "Legal Installs" .... 99% of the people who install them usually don't know or are too stupid to know what the fuck they're doing. The TOS and install Agreements are usually tucked away in some obscure place.

wedouglas 10-06-2006 09:53 AM

I have never heard of anyone wanting adware. You are just fucking people without them knowing. Most people who get adware installed, don't even know it.

I'd say this definately tarnished someones reputation.

Sosa 10-06-2006 09:55 AM

Wow the response from companies involved in this thread has been nothing more than unprofessional after reading 1 page.

You can always make money on something, and if there is enough money to be made, why focus then on something which is obviously so bad for our (and any other) industry. Because others are doing it otherwise? a lame excuse if you ask me.

Why don't you just say: Guys, you're right. I will stop with any form of install, I will focus on selling my traffic to others instead of their questionable stuff and probably make the same amount of money with most likely a bit more work..but fuck it! I make enough already.

But well, for some reason I don't see that happening, I would love to, but well.......one can dream right?!

I still love you Mark and I have a lot of respect for you what you have accomplished in just a few years, I just don't agree with you on this one as you know ;) And this post doesn't only apply to you, but also to many others.

1. ICQ is a piece of shit. I use GAIM.
2. I can't even think of the last time I used Real Player. I don't even think it is installed.
3. I have never seen any advertisements when I play quicktime file. NEVER.

Also, I said "wanted."

Are you telling me you want your programs with ads in them?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Will76, you may have won THIS battle, but the million-year war for Earth has just begun! Temporarily anozinizing our adware distribution abilities will NOT stop us from keeping adware forever trapped in your pitiful computers. Curses and drat! You have obstructed us for now, but your feeble bid to save sales from adware will fail! Hail Zango!!!

P.S. If no one gets this, it's the response that Trey and Matt from Southpark had for Tom Cruise LOL!
