Family Guy has had some hilarious episodes, although maybe not recently. The Simpsons changed animation and television forever, kind of made the FOX network, and remains relevant and still has a pretty decent ratio of funny shows to duds. No comparison beyond them both being animated shows featuring a family. The Simpsons wins.

And The Simpsons has contextual humor and manages to speak to both highbrow and lowbrow sensibilities. Can't really ask for more than that.

I think those sequences can be funny, but I kind of agree with the South Park guys (and TheLegacy) that the lack of context in those non-sequitor bits on Family Guy doesn't totally work. I mean, I thought they were funny the first gajillion times FG used them, but it has definitely gotten stale.

Simpsons is classic - Family Guy is amusing but feels like this long uncomfortable exercise in futility - no matter how long it's been running, it still feels kind of like an amateur high school production - the jokes just aren't that funny

Always have the 10 most recent episodes on the Simpsons on my TiVo...

Simpsons, hands down, for me.

mvee 04-22-2008 04:14 PM

I think they have run out of ideas for both shows. South Park still consistently offends people.

badmunchkin 04-22-2008 04:17 PM

And yea, I would say South Park is kicking both their asses in terms of storylines, jokes, overall cleverness, shock value, the whole deal. South Park is unbeatable right now. :2 cents:

I have to agree with you on that, every episode this season of South Park has been hilarious and fresh.

AmeliaG 04-22-2008 08:10 PM

Yeah, South Park really got its mojo back this season.

Spunky 04-22-2008 08:20 PM

miss_jody 04-22-2008 08:39 PM

family guy hands down. After watching family guy its hard to go back to the tameness of the Simpsons. Its like trying to compare boxing to MMA

SomeCreep 04-22-2008 09:45 PM

Not even close. The Simpsons all the way.

germ 04-23-2008 01:28 AM

I feel like an idiot watching either of them. Simpsons has lost its funny and Family Guy is the same episode every time.

CaptainHowdy 04-23-2008 02:55 PM

Right now? I'd choose American Dad.

GetSCORECash 04-23-2008 03:44 PM

Simpsons... no question about it.

RyuLion 04-23-2008 04:32 PM
