it sounds like she is trying to sing, which never sounds good. you either can or can't. she can't.. but, neither can I.

I think she can sing... I like her voice... You think she can't sing and perhaps she can't sing as well as Mariah or Christina but she has a good vocal range for her type of of voice... She is a soubrette (versus soprano, alto, etc), btw and she can reach high notes and ranges for someone with her type of voice. People always say Britney can sing but she can, she has a good range for what she sings which is POP.

This is what I found online

Britney has a higher range than most soubrettes do because she is able to surpass the restriction of note F5 which is uncommon. She is able to hit notes G5 and A5 which defies the restrictions most singers in her voice type have. Britney can also hit lower notes than other soubrettes can because she is able to hit E3, F3 and G3 which is in fact lower than A3. So, in conclusion, she has the highest range of any soubrette in contemporary music.

No online experts who analyze ranges of pop stars... I read music forums sometimes too, where music enthusiasts/vocalists analyze what range singers have... They can tell by the songs and notes what the highest note is that a singer can reach.

If Britney can reach a high note, that means she can hit that note. No one can make that up.

Here's footage of her singing live and she sings fine to me, I don't see anything wrong with it. Its not earth shattering but its not SUPPOSED to be, its POP, its supposed to be easy and breezy, not opera. Her voice is pleasant and it can carry a tune and it fits the songs...
