Never had an issue with people in France. When I was hitchhiking around the country I met a lot of people and they were always very pleasant and informed. A few even bought me lunch just so they could spend some time visiting with an American.

The only thing I ever found odd was that in Paris,especially around the left bank guys would piss in the street at night while walking between clubs.

They don't know how to make a decent automobile. That's clearly a negative.

french is the worst language, at least in the western world (my knowledge of all the 3rd world country languages is limited)... very ugly and annoying sounding language. Plus it seems like the people in france refuse to learn english.

I have to say Paris is the most beautiful city i have seen. Also the only stories I have a really rude people is in Paris so you get the good and the bad with them. They have very poor manners as a norm and it makes it hard to like them.

French is the worst language, wow, you hit that one. Give me some German, now there is a language that just rolls off the toungue...

Having lived in France for a while I can say some of the conclusions in this thread are asinine.

Any friction between Americans and French have more to do with the similarities between the two people than their differences.

The language rocks, anyone who thinks French is an ugly language has no ear for beauty.

PS-The French don't consider Quebec to be French anymore than Englishmen consider America to be English.

France is better off as an Islamic sharia theocracy. At least it would represent a sad and inglorious end to the stinking pile of refuse that France has been since the Neanderthals crawled out of Châtelperron cave.

On a side note it is a commonly accepted archaeological theory that the Neanderthals spoke a language which is remarkably similar in most ways to modern French.

just to note i am one of those odd balls in alberta who IS fully against big oil, you do not know how many idiots moved here from the east and think they are big shots with their $50k oil jobs.

the oil boom brought all the broke idiots from all over canada to calgary, i cannot wait until they all move back home. it is slowly happening which is extremely good for me.

i am hoping oil crashes just so all these people will return home.

The French had colonies in North America, South America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia... I highly doubt they were saints and "not wanting to rape and pillage" is a reason they lost power.
