Just say straight out that Epassporte is out of money, so they are holding whatever is left in customers accounts.

You're retarded, right? Thats the only reason I can think of for a comment like that. :error

pornguy 12-18-2008 06:17 AM

Shit. Got to check mine now

Michael O 12-18-2008 06:18 AM

When this is solved DO NOT use the same pin code.
If you have successfully set a pin code after the reset make sure its different than you previous one

" As well, ePassporte recommends that you transfer all of your available funds from your Visa Virtual Account to your ePassporte Wallet. "

Is there any real problem with the database? Is it just an advice or a 'must do' ?

Fucksakes 12-18-2008 06:42 AM

I don't got this message.. knocking on wood here but epass has been nothing but good to me and any questions I ever have Michael is there to answer it right away not 2-3 days later like most support.

nickutis 12-18-2008 06:42 AM

It's strange why our local banks doesn't change the PIN's for all our cards, if ATM's has been compromised?

Klen 12-18-2008 06:43 AM

This message is strange since it say how atm and merchants are compromised yet there is nothing in news about that.It simply doesnt have sense.Anyway i am not using epass card for withdrawing so i realy dont care about it.Yet again it kind a suck now i need to have different pin.And also,if someone steal your card they will break it no matter do they have pin or not if they are pros.

Fucksakes 12-18-2008 06:46 AM

just msged Michael now to find out more info.. and I got a response in .2 secs.. almost felt like an automatic response.

epass must be really popular in other countries.. my bank have no idea what epass is, when I pay for stuff in stores with it.. ppl look clueless, if I lost my wallet im sure it would be the last card anyone would take.

Well, if I did not read forums, I would not know there was any problem at all - my PIN is not changed and I just withdrawed some money from ATM without any hassle.

Which makes me wonder - what countries are affected by this? Anyone from USA has this problem?

Egomancer 12-18-2008 07:06 AM

Well,

I know a guy that knows a guy that is making the tools to compromise the cards and this scares the shit out of me - I mean you should always check from what ATMs you are withdrawing money.

This is a good thing, but done properly. I have the same problem with setting the PIN, I will try in a few hours to re-set it.

1. I can't withdraw my money because epassporte changed the PIN on my card.

2. I can't set the new PIN.

3. Epassporte is holding my money hostage.

4. Fuck you.

Oh yeah, such a concept is so hard to grasp.

Reputable, 200 year old banks are going bankrupt all over the world, but an internet payment system that is registered on some island that one one heard of is working perfectly fine!

Morons.

This, indeed, MAY happen to Epassporte. But actually, it depends on their business model which we know nothing about. Banks give credits, thus taking risk, payment system simply transfers money, taking commisions. Obviously they store their assets somewhere and if they are in one place they can disappear along with the bank if it bankrupts. But most of payment systems go down not because of that, but because they begin to make things they are not supposed to make. Like to invest client money into real estate or commodities without even notifying the clients about such activities. Or because they involve themselves into money laundering schemes.

Also, a question - if you are that afraid about reliability of Epassporte, why do you have money there at all? You should have taken them out and buy gold (or something else yu consider reliable) long ago.

Adriano 12-18-2008 07:29 AM

same problem here. mail sent to Michael

John-ACWM 12-18-2008 07:31 AM

I had the same experience a few minutes ago. And it bothered me too. Nothing more to say

Darkcrni 12-18-2008 07:43 AM

Still can't change my pin, will try later!!!

Tjeezers 12-18-2008 07:43 AM

Email send, only thing i can do is wait until this is solved.
It is to early to jump to panic conclusions.

czarina 12-18-2008 07:44 AM

I haven't had any problems. Will go by the ATM in a little while to see if I can login, just to make sure. But the truth is that I've never had any real issues with epass.

spacedog 12-18-2008 07:54 AM

When my father passed away and I had to fly to his home for wake and funeral, I needed my epass funds to board my flight.. But, nope.. just so happened to be down for maintenance and there I was at the airport getting declined while trying to buy my ticket :mad: Of all things in life, this one pissed me off to no end!!!

This past thanksgiving, when I needed access to my funds to travel 300+ miles to family, funds were not available due to tech glitches and I had to wait several days for this to be resolved.. I made my trip by the skin of my teeth and arrived back home on fumes... Do you know how stressful it is to travel with no fucking money!!!

Now, here it is 1 week away from Christmas.. I have invoices that need to be paid out for hosting, domain renewals, utilities, etc.. as well as I need to finish last minute shopping and then drive 300+ miles again, then come back.... if my pin gets changed and I can't access my funds.. I will be SO FUCKING RIPSHIT IT WILL DRIVE ME FUCKING MENTAL!!!!

For some reason, these very rare problems only fucking happen when it's the most inconvenient with the highest potential of completely fucking me up!!

Oh man.. I so have my fingers crossed

sitesurfer70 12-18-2008 07:58 AM

Just tried 2 minutes ago and still no go. Email sent!

haissem-o 12-18-2008 08:11 AM

Actually no, they do not happen only when it's the most inconvenient. It's simply when you memorize them most.

bbobby86 12-18-2008 08:31 AM

boys Michele is taking care of this... please be good...

Some countries are being hit very hard by cards being skimmed at ATMs we saw this as the best option to keep our card holders secure.

bloggingseo 12-18-2008 08:44 AM

Oh no ppoooor Michael O is right. He's going to have a ton of ICQ's. I really hope they are paying him what he's worth

Wow man, thats pretty intensive what you just shared
For a next time i would advice you to do some risk management, take money out a few days before you need it. Pay Cash. As soon a payment is arrived on your account, take it out. Hope your experience with Epass becomes better after this is all done.

Michael O 12-18-2008 08:46 AM

Tech is working on this issue.

The reason for this is that we have seen a large spike in compromised cards from some countries and to prevent cards that were compromised from being used pins from these countries were reset.
Card skimming at ATMs is a huge problem in some countries and on the rise.
