This one beats them all
Black sabbath i the 80's |
When Mastodon supported Tool they were extremely loud, so loud that it got all fuzzy and crap. Tool then came on stage and played the best gig Ive ever seen.
|
Kenny G
.. no wait ok. Beastie Boys, NYC. Fucking loud. |
Deafening loud is Shea stadium packed with screaming women - exotic
|
machine fucking head!!
|
AC/DC at BC Place. I was 4th row to the side in front of the speakers. Had ear plugs in and still had ringing for a few days after. Kickass show, tho :)

Ted Nugent -=Thread Closed=- PS.. at his concerts the down middle section of the concert floor is referred to as the "killing fields" for the pure sound aimed at that area |
system of a down at palladium - couldn't hear for a day
dio at house of blues - couldn't hear for a day and a half the crystal method at vanguard - couldn't hear for three days (all I heard was static the entire time) :helpme |
Faith No More
|
I saw Pantera years ago in Towson MD and that was fucking loud. Rage Against The Machine was a close second.
|
Dalek by far. Meshugah is right up there too

i have yet to go to a concert that is too loud, and I have been to over 1000 concerts
|
Motorhead, sometime in the 80's
Nothing even comes close. I have seen hundreds of metal shows. Nobody was even in the ballpark of Motorhead. Not Slayer, not LoG, not Morbid Angel ... nobody. "Everything Louder than Everything Else" isn't just a phrase they put on their t-shirts. |
Another vote for MotorHead. It was too loud, had to put my fingers in my ears and they were still ringing the next day.
|
Saw Black Sabbath live and couldn't hear for nearly 4 days.
|
KISS at MSG in NYC.. i forget the year but i was working with the sound crew as they set a world record for most indoor speakers. I stood as the soundboard and during soundcheck, everytime they would check the kick drum , my cigarette lighter would blow out
|
Third vote for AC/DC. I saw them last month, that shit was loud as fuck! The six cannons exploding didn't help much either.
|
Loudest?... hmmm
Hard to decide. Let's see... there was 1981's Ted Nugent-Heart-Blue Oyster Cult-Loverboy outdoor fest where the Nuge brought it. The 1984 tour by VH was pretty loud. But no, I'd have to say without a doubt it was Canada's own GODDO. For years The Who boasted about being the loudest band in the world, and VH boasted about their "55 Ton Gun" being the largest and loudest roadshow in the world, but in a theatre or large bar setting it was GODDO that really blew the most eardrums. Those fuckers could rock. |
Ive seen Slayer about 5 times and they kill it every time.
I saw Megadeth at the Palladium and it was so loud that i couldnt enjoy it. |
Skid Row opening for Guns N' Roses was the loudest show I've ever experienced, I've been to at least 100 concerts and this shit was just out of control and it was outside! Paaaainful. I really regretted having good seats.

Tool .....

But my loudest experience Chris is by far MotorHead. Nothing comes close. Here's Lemmy's way to do things: he turns his volume on his bass halfway down for the sound check. Wehn he comes on stage for the show, he put it full volume and he is soundman's worst nightmare because of that!:thumbsup PS: to the guy that said The Cure, with all the respect and God knows how much I like this band, but this is not a loud concert to see. :) |
Motorhead..... as a recent show.
Flaming Lips as a way back.... they had 'quadrophonic' strobes as well... so you basically just whirled in circles wondering what the fuck was happening...or where the stage was. Loud and loud..... have a hard time putting flaming lips and motorhead in the same group but its true. |
Discharge, Exodus, Napalm Death
|
Santana in San Bernadino in 1982.... There were something like 300,000 people at this festival and somehow I was right up front.... It was so loud that I ended up stuffing tissues in my ears and then holding them in with my fingers and I was still ringing like crazy the next day...
Amazing show, but just unreal how loud it was... I was physically buffeted by the sound pressure. . |
Smashing Pumpkins at the Hollywood Palace early nineties. My ears were ringing for days from the loud bass in the small venue.
|
I don't think I have been to a concert that my ears didn't ring like hell for a few days after and I also ended up feeling like I had whiplash for a few days.
|
Foetus - In a tiny club in Portland Oregon back in the late 80's early 90's... can't remember what the name of the club was - off 2nd and burnside. Saw Smashing Pumpkins there right after Gish was released.
To this day, all my friends still agree that concert was the most painfully loud concert we've ever seen. |
Definitely another vote for Motorhead. No question.

Rush, Roll the Bones tour, Las Vegas, Thomas & Mack, about 93?
|
Motorhead hands down, it was my first concert at 12 years old, they opened for Alice Cooper and I can still remember how horribly loud Lemmy was
|
Every Single Motorhead show i have been to, no one plays as loud as Lemmy and crew. It suprises me that they have any hearing left
|
I don't know if it was the loudest or just the most irritating, but Edgar Winter with his brother Johnny joining in the screamfest.
|
Went to a concert in Toronto few years ago, 3 bands where playing
Tiger Army Social Distortion GWar Awesome concert but damn it was Loud |
Ramones.
|
AC/DC late 70's at the OMNI in Atlanta.
I had speaker level seats, about Row 10, directly in front of the band and they were all the way across the floor the size of a hockey rink. All I remember is that my ears were ringing three days after the concert. Also one of the Top 5 concerts I've ever been to :thumbsup _ |
