traveling the world, live in a resort town (Whistler, BC) whenever i'm not traveling, in order to snowboard pretty much every day in the winter, and downhill bike pretty much every day in the summer. hike in the spring and fall (mostly fall). head to the southern hemisphere every n.american summer to snowboard. read lots of books, write, do road trips, a bit of volunteering, bitch on a blog about local politics, and manage investments... all with a great girl by my side to enjoy it all with. you don't need to work all the time in order to get the best out of life. i will never understand these people who always want to work no matter what. over-rated. there are a million other more interesting things to do in this world besides 'work'.

That's all great, when you're older I guess. I couldn't imagine living an entire life that way though. I think most people need to feel a sense of purpose and accomplish productive goals. For me, living my whole life on vacation would not provide that and ultimately result in me feeling unhappy.

Same here.

When I am not working on something. I tend to be unhappy. I can't sleep. It is a very weird feeling. I can maybe get by a day, sometimes two, with no work of any kind. After that, it really starts to bug me.

I think more money would just put my houses closer to the action. But maybe not as I like where i live so otherwise pretty much what I do now. Work a little, go out and screw lots of women. Life is good!

well, managing your money and investments is in and of itself a job of sorts. volunteering is far more purposeful than making money in a business imho. there is so much out there. sitting at a computer 18 hours a day is not the best way to live life. i did it for almost 13 years, i am happy to be done with it for the most part, and moved on to other things.

Invest & make more money, shop till I dropped everyday and travel all the time with my family. I'd hardly ever be home that's for sure.

Vicious_B 02-02-2009 07:24 AM

Travel, adopt or foster or both, get back into creative projects I have no time or money for such as making jewelry. Like Mandy said spend time shopping and chilling.

Sarah_Jayne 02-02-2009 07:25 AM

No idea but I am willing to go on that voyage of discovery should anybody want to sponsor me.

i took a year off when i moved cross country, i spent my time reading, writing, and painting and lots of time in the garden.

few can take a year off, and at my age its unheard of. (32)

I agree that progressing in life is important. Often that means moving on from one way of living to another. Sometimes, that means doing the same thing for a lifetime (ex. Buffett, Einstein). Fulfillment is relative and everyone has their own priorities . For me, as long as I feel that I'm always making the best use of my time, I'm happy.

Traveling, writing, working in advertisement, collecting cars and same as now

NextBigTube 02-02-2009 07:33 AM

Same as what I am doing. However since all I need is an internet connection, I would probably travelling and working from different places.

Why not just do that, then?

Interesting and obscure places aren't that expensive, usually, and writing fiction merely takes time.

but I will never understand such atitude either ^

it'd require sufficient money in your bank or a stable passive income for me to just chill every day.... or explore obscure places around the world.. or do charity work in Africa etc

I'd hate to become seriously sick or disabled and come back from Africa or Asia and come back to my home country and be left with nothing...

money gives you a peace of mind, if you're 30 years old and do charity work in Africa then you're definitely a good person, but not safe or responsible if you're broke and have basically no income/savings....

if you have 2 million waiting for you in the bank, then you can do it with no problem

to sum up, I don't really need money to be "living large",.. but I need it to feel safe in this world...

why not do charity work in your own country?

or is it not adventurous enough for you?
