Dude, I don't need to check email because I've had this ticket opened in a browser the whole day.

I posted a screenshot too. (which Jim says is photoshoped, but won't post his own screenshot)

The whole thing is pretty stupid though. I didn't come here bashing them or anything, I just asked that long ticked times were the norm (cause I just moved there). And in return they call me a liar.

What did i say that offended so many here? geez... you got people spam hosts all day, I mentioned "email is easy" and sand flies in everyones vaginas? LOL

I was not offended for what ya did. People mention hosts and as long as they are not ref code dropping or the hosts themselves being all spammy I could give a shit if people drop names. It just shows that you or whoever appreciates that given host and your showing some support.

I was just pointing out that not everyone does want to control it all or do it all. I too know how to set up emails, add domain names, etc. I just no longer want to nor wish to do so. I like that they will handle it all for me and get it done without question. I just see them as another extension of my business - like another employee and when I need something done in that department I just say do it and they do their job. It allows me to not micro manage everything.

KingpinMedia 03-10-2009 02:00 PM

Techie Media has always answered my tickets and finished them in minutes, and I have submitted quite a bit, some pretty complex. I also consider myself to be a "high maintenance" customer and they always go above and beyond to take care of an issues that arise.

The best host I've been with in a LONG time.

I don't know what's so hard to understand? They are the tech support after all.

I just wan't my POP3 account login info look like this:

email: [email protected]
POP3 Login: [email protected]
POP3 Password: 123456

The way they first set it up is totally retarded.

Username looked like this: contacts_doma (where 'doma' is hald the domain name)
Looks messy, stupid and hard to remember. So i asked nicely if they could do the other way. They said no?

Well ty for at least being cordial, it seems simply mentioning another host in a thread = crime.

The only reason I posted in this thread, was becuse last night I explained to my brother how emails work and how easy it is to set up on your own server etc... he wanted "[email protected]" he asked me if it would cost him extra for each email, I laughed, "no man..."

so the topic was fresh on my brain so i mentioned how quick and painless it was/is to set up your own emails. Fact remains, I can create an email @ my domain faster than opening support ticket lol

I meant no harm and didnt call anyones mom a whore, even if she is!!!

By implying that one of the best hosts in the business is doing a half ass job on a low level ticket you are absolutely bashing them. Especially because it's not true.

That's what I heard too, and thats why i decided to get server with them.

For $300/month for a 10mbps server they can't figure out how to set up emails?

I'm not implying. It is true.

I can't post the full ticket log because i'm working from a tiny ass 10" computer right now. So I posted start date and end date (4 hrs later, still being opened)

But Jim wanted to post his version of the ticket. Where is it?

So I created a ticket at Techimedia. Very simple task, add 3 pop3 accounts. I selected Medium urgency.

It's been about 5 hours now. And I just got a reply that says: "Sorry, but login can't contain @."

Since when can't pop3 account usernames look like this: [email protected]

LOL.

I'm am LMMFAO @ you calling me a retard. Project much?

You didn't just ask if they had ICQ support, you implied they were a subpar host for not having it....and yet today, someone from Techie sent you an ICQ message and you're still on here bitching.

You're the one who doesn't know how to format a fucking email address and then came in here and lied about the whole thing to create controversy.

I've known Jim for alot of years and he's not a liar...if he said you're not telling the truth about the ticket, then you're not telling the truth about the ticket.

I'm not taking sides here but some hosts have it so the login cannot contain the @ symbol. I've used one or two that did that. That might just be how they have their system setup.

atom 03-10-2009 02:11 PM

2 of my mainstream hosts dont allow the @ in the login either. Im not sure why this is, some hosts do, some dont. There must be a reason though.

Example of what my host login is when they send me details.

If you trust Jim more, why don't you asked him to post his screenshots like he was threatening?

Davey Jones I have never in 12+ years in biz got into any drama threads however you keep posting these 1/2 complete pics of the complete support ticket from start to finish with true and real accurate time stamps. Since you seem to like to just post the end why havent you posted the beginning which shows how the real ticket response went? Oh and you still have not called the office nor replied to several ICQ's As snake doctor mentioned you bashed on another great host recentally Nat Net for not even having icq support? and now you wont even use it, but rather start drama on gfy? Obviously you are not happy with us after just 1 day so since I gave you the month free just say the word and Ill kill the server?

Ticket originally opened at 11:44
Assigned to Tech at 11:46 Thats 2 minutes
Original ticket completed at 12:24 thats about 40 mins open to close and the reason it took even that long is that the server was just released to you and you hadnt even been put into the support system yet so that was about 15 min s of internal paperwork.

Then at 2:50 you then decided that after we did what you wanted you would rather have it done differently. Well we dont use the @ symbol in a username.
Then well you can see the rest we offered you another option, and you said basically close the ticket.

At this point I can't really do anything for you.

Why would I call (overseas toll much? i don't feel like paying $5/minute) if there is a ticker system?

Why would I reply to ICQ if there is an open ticket in the system? I had a browser opened, i was constantly refreshing it, waiting for the reply. I don't even have ICQ installed on this laptop i'm currently working from.

Why would someone need to be so anal retentive about their username for an email account anyways? You put it into your mail reader once (or save it in your browser once) and that's it.

If you can't understand the difference between a username login and the actual address people will send email to, that's not Techie's fault.

They have it setup that way because they have a dedicated mail server. They don't use resources on your server to process your email. That is to your advantage and you don't have to pay extra for it.

You're just a dick who loves GFY drama....and not having email accounts created fast enough or with usernames that have the characters you love is a pretty lame reason to try to start a GFY drama thread.

I like to have everything set up neat. The logins they first gave me looked half assed.
Those logins would also be hard to remember. Sorry, but I want my business set up impeccably.

I can tell the difference. And I'm not blaming them for not being able to set it up their way. They have their own system figured out that works for them and I respect that.

The thing that turned me off was the bad ticket response time and the owner basically calling me a liar (and then posting his logs that show that I was actually right).

Fuck you.

1) I am a paying customer.
3) I never demanded anything outrageous. I was courteous in my communications.
2) And regarding the ticket response time (that took hours, read up the log Jim posted) - I have the right to expect premium service for paying premium price.

Basically, I made this thread when all hope was lost and I understood I wasn't going to host there.

Killswitch - BANNED FOR LIFE 03-10-2009 03:47 PM

Holy shit... this thread is a trainwreck.

Not siding with Davey Jones but just how I read what Techie Media said, I don't think I'd be using them.

Not to mention I like the freedom of not having to rely on support for such simple tasks as creating an email address...

DarkJedi 03-10-2009 03:52 PM

Oh and the thing about ticket systems.

I asked NatNet if they had ICQ support. They said no, and they said that ticket support was much better. Everyone chimed in on that being the case too.

So I gave the ticket system a try. And it turned out to be a complete fail. First of all, going back and forth about the stuff I want and stuff they can't do. Second of all, it took them 3.5 hours to reply to me when I asked if the pop3 usernames could be set up they way I wanted.

So I'm still in favor of ICQ.

I would be pissed too.. Waiting 2+/1+ hours for a simple reply is unacceptable if you need something really *quick*. And ticket priority setting is not the best idea. (Take a look at Namecheap support)

DarkJedi 03-10-2009 03:57 PM

Ok, now about the morons asking why I didn't reply to their ICQ.

Well, first of all, there was a ticket opened. I was refreshig it waiting for the reply. Why in the hell would they ICQ me instead of answering the ticket that is sitting open there. And how the fuck should I know i'm being ICQd? I'm not a psychic.

Second, I had no idea they had ICQ support.
If you go here: http://techiemedia.net and then click here http://techiemedia.net/support.html you can see that ICQ isn't mentioned anywhere there. I thought the ticket system was the way to go.

Can't say I'd be happy there either. According to those logs it took them about 40 mins to make an email. If there's no control panel and you need support for everything, the support better be damn fast 24/7. I know it's just an email address but it shouldn't take anywhere near 40 mins IMO. :2 cents:
