You see? All thats on news today is this stupid carter shit. Not health care reform (they squeeze that in), not any other news. Just carters comment.

All it did was give the republicans an opening to raise hell again. Now theyr'e saying that everything they say, the democrats will blame on racism. Which of course people are against, so they get an automatic win.

Jimmy Carter is one of the smartest presidents this country has ever had....

That said, Carter will not go down as a great president, He meant to do well but after Nixon/Ford, Inflation, Super high oil / gas prices and of course the big one - the Iran hostage crisis - well you know the story.

He in my opinion is a very moral and ethical Human being and has probably been the best X-President ever.

I don't agree with everything he says but I appreciate his thoughts and words...

I really like him as a person and his charitable works, and even peanut farming and bass fishing stories. He got screwed by the iranians who waited specifically for Reagan to be elected (carter gone) before releasing the hostages..

But man he needs to hush on anything remotely related to hotbutton issue when it's still hot.. let it cool a week. They're making bank on this now. All the news needs is a shiny object, he should know that.

I hear you - I just think in his mind being an X-Politican of his stature he pretty much says what he thinks and wants.

It's not that he doesn't care of take things into consideration but he looks at things from a political view and from a moral view alot of the times.

He pissed off the Clinton Admin also on things like Israel, Palestine, etc.

As a southern man he grew up in some of the worst racial times..... He served his country proudly as a Sub captain / Nuclear Eng I belive, and made it to the Gov. of GA, then to the whitehouse..

He writes in 1 of his 20+ books that as a young boy / teen he couldn't play with some of the workers kids on the farm because they were black.... He says he used to cry at night asking god and wondering why a persons skin color made then bad or less them "him"

I don't think this man has 1 bad bone in his body......

I am a jew and of course haven't always support all his thoughts on Israel but I respect and admire this man........

His greatest achievment as president, Camp David - Israel and Egypt peace :)

Good stuff, cant disagree at all. I'm projecting my concern that our "news" outlets are just too much into the drama-whore mode with this issue, onto Carter.

My grandfather worked a bit on his presidential campaign and said that he was the nicest, most committed politician he had ever met. He would often say that Jimmy Carter was just too good a man to be president.

As a kid, we went down to Georgia and went to a peanut farm store run by one of his cousins and when we mentioned my grandfather's name he knew him. I was young but remember being super buzzed by that.

Jimmy Carter has some balls, good for him. However, the only person who truly knows if the opposition was racist is Joe Wilson himself.
