1 a.m. vote with bribed votes.

What a travesty. I will NEVER vote for a Democrat again. Pelosi and Reid are the most corrupt, underhanded people we have ever had in a power position. Money was handed all over the place to obtain the 60 votes ... that's right, bought votes. Would it be ethical for me to stand outside the voting booths next election and pass out $100 bills to get the people to vote Republican? I would be deemed as being extremely unethical in trying to buy votes. WASHINGTON IS SOOOOOOO CORRUPT with lobbyists and their suitcases full of money buying Senators & Representatives. Really disgusting if you really think of it.

And by the way, I am neither Democrat or Republican ... or a far right or far left bloviator. I am a common sense person that made a mistake and voted for smooth talking Obama. I truly am sorry for voting that way and want to apologize to all people for doing so. NEVER AGAIN.

They have been saying that they wanted to socialize medicine for the last 16 years, there is too much money in it for Washington NOT to want more of that pie. What is laughable was how everyone thought it was going to be FREE or at least not cost us anymore, has anyone looked at the tax rates in England and Canada recently, wait until that money gets taken out of the economy and see hows things slow down.

My guess is the solution after that will be to tell all of the business owners that their employees need higher wages and that they have to raise the minimum wage.

IMHO no one should be allowed up on the hill until they have run a business and made it profitable so that they could demonstrate that they have some idea of where money comes from vs just deciding that they need more money, so just raise taxes, be ready the bills are coming and you know who has to pay for it.

Actually, they have been pretty open about how they plan to pay for the health care bill. It will come from a mix of cuts to medicare, taxes on high end health insurance policies, taxes on some cosmetic procedures (oddly enough included in this was taxes on tanning). It would also impose new fees of billions of dollars a year on insurers, medical-device makers, pharmaceutical makers and others. So it is pretty clear how they plan to pay for it and they claim it will actually cut the deficit. Of course I don't think you can really know for sure how much this is going to cost until it actually goes into action. Not to mention those that will get higher taxes will quickly find ways around paying them so the income to pay for the program will drop.

All of this, of course, is secondary to the fact that while the health care bill will help a lot of people it is nowhere near the reform that is needed. When they first started talking about this I said that I felt they would either never pass anything of real value and nothing would change or they would pass something that had some value but was bloated and expensive and would cost billions. It looks like I was wrong because they seem to have done both.

Canada's taxes are only slightly higher than the US (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:In...By_Country.svg) and our economy wasn't as hit as hard by recession either :P

It's not a perfect bill nor even a particularly good bill, but it does represent a step towards more important change that they would not have been able to start without these first baby steps. Well, for one the government will be buying most of these people's insurance and paying the premiums so they will be forced to get it, but it will be paid for.

That said, I don't see premiums going down any substantial amount and I have a feeling it is going end up being a lot more expensive than they think.

Let me remind all of you that are talking about "the" health care bill that there is not a health care bill. There are two health care bills that have to be reconciled into a single health care bill. There are major differences between the House Bill and the Senate bill and I personally believe that the differences will not be reconciled by the current Congress into a single bill to present to the President.

Yeah like McCain/Palin would be sooo much better. Health care bill would be "If you're not a millionaire you are fucked and need to die" health care. Yes soooooooo much better. before you bitch about who is in charge now LOOK at what the alternative would be.

Last time I checked the rrepublcians had 6 years of total control. So they had a chance to make changes to health care and didn't. Hmmmmmmmmm. Why don't you sit and chew on that one for awhile. Actually THINK about why in 6 years not even ONE attempt was made to change health care that would benefit everyday people? I wonder why the republcians would not have been more pro-active about that?

besides I'm not sure why you are pissed. Let's say this thing is total fubared. Then the GOP will take over again and gut it. Problem solved. And if you think bought votes are new then go take a hsitory class. It used to be much worse 100 years ago. Country seem to survive it.

What is laughable was how everyone thought it was going to be FREE or at least not cost us anymore, has anyone looked at the tax rates in England and Canada recently, wait until that money gets taken out of the economy and see hows things slow down. My guess is the solution after that will be to tell all of the business owners that their employees need higher wages and that they have to raise the minimum wage.
