His 11:30 was failing bad, so they moved him to 10:30, that's even worse, so they're putting him back to where he was failing. SMART.

Actually, he was winning his time slot at 11:30 and had been for years. No matter what Letterman did he couldn't beat Jay other than on a few nights here and there if he had a really controversial or hard to get guest. That is why it seems so odd. Why would you take the #1 guy out and replace him.
I wonder how much money they paid him to go to 10:00. I bet it was a truckload. And according to the network his show at 10:00 did the numbers they thought it would and was making money because it was cheap to produce. The people that were pissed were the NBC affiliates who run local news at 11:00 and with no big lead in were losing viewers fast and losing a lot of money.
