I agree, but there are dog food brands on the market that supposedly have all the best ingredients but the dogs won't even touch them. In this case it's good quality and apparently good taste.

Of course the dog food advertised on TV is PURE SHIT. What do you see on TV that is not pure shit?

100% true. We changed our 10 y.o. dog's food from kibble to Honest kitchen's human grade dehydrated food and also added raw food and it worked wonders. She had more energy and her coat became very shiny. Unfortunately she passed 3 years later, but there was a drastic change in her behavior. She seemed happier and a lot more active.

The major store brands buy dead dogs and cats from the humane society and use that in their food. There is no nutrition in kibble.

I just let mine find his own food. Easier than filtering through all the date, plus I know he is getting what he wants.

Our dogs eat Innova or Merrick.

I'd imagine those are highly rated on that site. My girl is fanatic about giving the dogs the best food possible.

Science Diet is a scam. Their feline urinary tract health formula is pretty much exactly the same as purina one's feline urinary tract health formula and over twice the price. Neither are premium pet foods. :2 cents:

Mine used to get a combination of Pedigree canned and Pedigree kibble, and then went to only Pedigree kibble for a long time. After a few years it started giving them the shits, so we switched them to Iams weight control kibble, and they've been fine ever since.

I don't believe there is such a thing as "what dogs would eat in the wild" because domesticated dogs do not live in the wild. The ones that do actually "live in the wild" generally eat garbage in alleyways.

I thought about using that one because they have it at TSC and it seems decent, but I also agree with whoever it was that said they should be fed natural shit, not all the filler garbage. I never really put too much thought into it, but now I am going to change his food. LOL!.

Cats yes, dogs no.

Dogs are like humans, they are omnivores and need a balance of meat as well as vegetable matter. My dogs constantly steal carrots from the barn and go nuts in the fall because of all the apples and pears on the ground.

All that being said, common processed dog food does not contain anywhere near enough meat for them. I make sure to suppliment their dog food with real meat regularly.

fatfoo 01-16-2010 02:18 PM

Yeah, be careful what dog food you buy.

Do not eat the food yourself.
