As someone who is uninsured and has paid high medical bills some years, I feel very qualified to say that I do not want to be forced to buy health insurance and this bill is not for me. I have been forced to buy car insurance since I could drive, of course, and that has never worked out in my favor. A canadian in British Columbia making $120k a year pays a grand total of 43.7% of his income in taxes.

That is considerably more than most Americans making the same amount are taxed, depending on the state that they live in.
