i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 26 years ago, it was the best news i've ever gotten.

it caused me to immediately take full responsibility for my health, i was 19 years old. overall, i've eaten right and exercised ever since. results- i am 45, still have all my toes and fingers, my vision is very good, i can still get a boner and my kidneys function. not to mention looking good and feeling good.

but based on this comment, i don't see the op going in the same direction:

it's not uncommon for diabetics to not know which type they have. i've seen it over and over and there's been many times when i've been asked and gotten confused.

Actually, I came down with a nasty stomach flu that night.

But no diabetes.

I care but I dont see what difference it would make to know the exact name.
I felt relieved in knowing I have diabetes since I could not pin down my need for siestas and my unability to concentrate on some stuff. The pills made it better.
Having a lapband operation in two months.
And no I still dont care if the disease is called type A,type B or fmltube for my part.
