That just blows. Make sure that the shop that fixes it does a perfect job, otherwise every time you look at the centre console and see a dent or scratch it will remind you of what some fuckhead did and totally ruin your enjoyment of the car.

broken glass is classless... used to only happen to BMWs in california (bmw = break my windows) now they're doing it to Vws. probably a druggie, a pro would have crawled underneath, clipped a battery cable to kill the alarm and then slim jimmed it. on the bright side passenger door glass is not too expensive and simple to replace yourself.

my miata was broken into once in canada, stole some condoms and all my change. i didnt feel so bad though cause they hit every car on my street that night. since then i just leave them all unlocked and dont look back. good lookin out man sorry to hear ur misfortune

I feel your pain. Last week I heard a crashing noise outside and a car peel out and got out side and there were footprints on my hood and my windshield was kicked in. It shattered but the safety glass held and didn't go into the car. Cops said there was pretty much nothing they could do unless I had caught them in the act. Not worth reporting on my insurance and taking a hit. Much easier to just pay out of pocket for it.

If your close enough to your car, one of the best antitheft devices is a baby monitor. I know it sounds odd, but having one wired in and hidden, you hear everything. Unless you live on a real busy street, or unless someone with a baby lives close and don't over run the one in your car, you would be surprised how you will wake up at the sound of beaking glass. I know sounds kind of ghetto, or redneck, but when it comes to either loosing your crap or spending 40 bucks and doing a little bit of work. It doesn't matter what kind of anti theft device you have. No thief ever thinks of a baby monitor inside a car so that you can hear whats going on in your car.

Many people know how to work around a car alarm now.

Someone who lives in our street had their car stolen a few weeks back and the alarm never went off. I'm hearing more and more stories like that all the time now...

How good are those cars. They sell them here and even have a nice SUV.

Get one with that "warn away" feature. Someone touches your car and it let's out a quick couple of peeping noises (similar to the arming sound).

That and a 3 point electronic immobilizer and you're good to go.

roald that sucks, i know what its like to have my car broken into, but here it happens at a rate of like 300 times a day ( I live in naples italy).

i had one car of mine stolen years ago and 3 other cars broken into.
the last time a car was broken into it was my fiat panda and they took the stereo and my cds........of which 90% of them were copies, i barely bring originals with me.

but my favorite cd which was in there was stolen. nile - in their darkened shrines
