I'm still not sure what I should do. My contract is up soon and I don't know if I should stick with an android phone or not. I heard the Motorola Click phone is really good- and I believe it is still an android phone.

You shouldn't really judge the Android platform based just on the G1 phone as that is the very first of the Android phones. There are several Android phones from more than one manufacturer now. I tried out the Samsung Moment which works with Sprint and I was impressed.

We will see. I do not remember Apple having this huge of a lead in the PC war back in the day. The you have to remember the IBM factor. I also can not say that the dos/windows machines were ever much better then Apple.

Then add in that you pretty much just spew biased crap, I have to go with the iPhone.

:thumbsup

ibm was not as big a factor as you would think in the windows 3.11 debate vs apple gui
the arguement was exactly the same as you are seeing consumers don't care about development platform. But ultimately people bought the machine because of the applications they could run not because of how nice the os was.

Again. I will allow you guys to speculate and I'll just post the facts.

Over 140,000 Apps to date with 2 billion downloads. Developers may whine about the limited API or the secretive approval process but nothing suggests that they are abandoning the platform anytime soon.

What do you suppose is going to happen when the iPhone hits Verizon's new high speed network? Or when they open up the phone to other U.S carriers? I'm guessing they hit the 100 million iPhone mark a lot sooner than most people think.

apple had market dominance for gui based machines, they were years ahead and they still lost.
hell apple kept saying that windows 95 was mac 85

cellphones have a much shorter life expectancy then pc. In fact new carriers are allow you to upgrade your phone each year on the same plan. so holding that base is going to be an issue, if the apps start to flow.

the api on android is very impressive, full support for open standards like soap make it work seamlessly and support for api access to the underlying os allows you to build powerful applications (i built a micro torrent client that runs cleanly on android phone)

I looked at the Samsung Moment, an Android OS phone to use with the Sprint service that I am happy with and I the liked interface and snappiness of it, and it's slide out keyboard for texting, the web browser and the apps.

This is what I have and it's a good phone. It just NEEDS the Android 2.1 update and it will be a great phone.
