Apparently people thought Roger Ebert was a communist 'cause he was trying to point out that these kids were being provocative for attention, not for patriotism.

It has nothing to do with the flag and everything to do with kids being kids and administrators doing whatever it takes to prevent fights from happening at a high school in a small town. I just spoke with teacher from the next district over and he said that there, there was already heightened security and a police presence on campus that day because of the potential for "brown on brown" violence. With the potential for trouble already smoldering, administrators were surely not out of line in viewing the posturing of these 4 antagonists as a potential match.

I think the bottom line is whether or not the kids were being provocative or not, you can only punish the ones that break policy by assaulting them, you CANNOT deny the kids their right to wear flag shirts.

The ones that the authorities feared would assault the kids need to be held accountable for THEIR OWN ACTIONS. What are you teaching kids if you punish the exercising of RIGHTS rather than the responsibility for assault?

The funniest thing about this is the violent liberal democrats. I was just watching this thing on a neo nazi march on Washington D.C. and they were met by protesters who were being called "anti-racists" lol, and that might be fine and dandy, and I want to punch a racist in the mouth too, but the anti racists were more violent than the racists almost proving the racists point.

I go back to my point that whoever gets too much power isn't any good. It doesn't matter what your skin color or religion or anything else is. Too much power for your personal agenda just goes against everything our country is supposed to stand for.

P.S. it's good that we can organize for a good cause though, if we could just do it faster and get the cause accomplished and then disband when it was over. That would be awesome!

No doubt but what's your point? We should get violent and oppress their freedom of speech?

Michael, administrators didn't know who specifically, would be violent, just that some might. So they couldn't send anyone in particular home. Their only other option was to send home the ones who might have (for whatever reason or not) triggered or been the target of violence, home. What if for example, those offended were snipers (undetectable)? Would you still want to leave your American Flag wearing kid at school? Just leave your kid at school to stand for his rights until they find the sniper because it should be the snipers who should be sent home not the patriots? If you absolutely agree that the safety of kids comes first, and plan A is not possible, to protect kids... is it not reasonable to go to plan B? to protect kids? If I was an administrator, I'd rather do whatever it takes, no matter how unpopular, to protect the kids and then have to apologize later, than not do anything at all and be responsible for hurt or dead kids.

Here we go again - Mexican Terrorist Snipers Who Want to Shoot at Kids wearing the American Flag? :1orglaugh

If I didn't know better I'd think you were one of those sneaky white supremicists I just heard about :1orglaugh

I really don't think the issue was whether the kids were trying to be disruptive, that part is obvious. It's that they succeeded by wearing American flags.... in America. For anyone to find that offensive, no matter where you are or what day it is, offends me.
