the people who were fired were legally supposed to be there, i'm assuming, or it would have been out by now that they were aliens

I didn't even think those were still around. They used to be up there with the el rancho market in the old days.

I noticed allot of places emptying out because the illegal immigrants are hitting the road.
Food city is dead by us and it used to have tons of them hanging around in the parking lot and store. Home depot's around town are getting a nice look to them once more ;)

That's pretty much how it was in every restaurant I've ever worked in...

I'm normally on the side of employees in most issues, but in this case, the employees were in the wrong and fired as they should have been. They knew what company policy was and chose to violate it. These people weren't protesting their treatment at Pei Wei, they were protesting something entirely different.

It's basically a case of these knuckleheads will now have all the time in the world to protest while someone else does they jobs they failed to do...

Restaurant managers don't want their employees taking off for any reason, abortion protest related or otherwise. If 12 pro/anti abortion chicks didn't show up for work and didn't call in, they'd have been fired just as fast.

I don't think so. Most jobs are going to fire you for not showing up or calling in. Race is not a factor in this matter. I think it is sad that so many of you have to bring race into so many of these threads. People need to protest when they are not working.

lol you ever work in a restaurant?? It's not like an affiliate rep job online or a sub contractor job where you can make your own hours or come and go as you please. They don't give a fuck why you missing work, unless you are in the hospital or someone died, your ass better be at work.

I once fired a cute and sexy white girl because she didnt show up for a weekend she was scheduled to work. if you had read the thread, i did say there is a grey areas and the bottom line was they should have been at work

on the other hand, we don't hear too much about white people in arizona being fired for wanting to protest

why would that be?

Why on earth would the news report about white people complaining over being fired on an immigration protest? That isn't news. Nobody cares what white people do.
