I didn't say anything about breaking laws or becoming criminals or being arrested. You were talking about sucking the system teat, welfare, hospitals, etc.... and I asked you, how is that any different from our legal citizens that do the same things? (I don't know how you get welfare if you're an illegal alien, but okay). What's the difference? One is legally here, the other is not. They both drain the system. Sounds to me like the system is what needs fixing, not some weak attempt at trying to block certain people from it.

Smokieflame 07-23-2010 11:00 AM

I live in AZ and this law is not as evil as people seem to think. First off I had to live next door to illegal immigrants who non stop started problems. Every time we called the cops they wouldn't do anything b/c there hands were tied by not being legally able to ask for documents which is bullshit. If you are a US citizen and you are walking down the street without ID you can be arrested, finger printed, and given a $400 ticket. I know from experience. In all other countries if you are visiting on a passport and you do not have your passport when a cop talks to you, you can be charged with a crime and immediately deported out of the country, this goes for Americans just as much as Mexicans. So yes our cops should have the right to ask someone who does not speak English at all for documents. It is in FACT a requirement to speak English at a 3rd grade level to become a citizen, and if you are working on your citizenship the proper way you should have documents.

Maricopa County Sheriffs office has also stated they will be going one step farther, if someone claims to be legal, or pending legal they will not take them directly to jail, they will take them to there home for them to provide proof of legal status.

I personally hope they kick every illegal out of our country. Its a blatant disrespect to all the immigrants that have worked there asses off to become a citizen the right way. Just because Mexico sucks does not mean we should give up our jobs, our resources and our neighborhoods to these people. Illegals are VERY rude people, even the workers. They play there carnival music VERY loud at all hours, they party heavily, 1 in 3 illegal immigrants children join gangs such as MS-13, which is the most violent gang in America and is 80% illegals or children of illegals. It is so bad, that MS-13 is in Elementary schools in wealthier areas!!!

So, what if next week the cops come and haul away your neighbors that you clearly despise, and 2 days later a new group moves in there that are exactly the same in every way except, they're legal. Then what?

You make it sound like illegals are the only bad neighbors out there. I can show you plenty of douchebag white people that make horrible neighbors.

Vendzilla 07-23-2010 11:08 AM

they have a precedent, Prince William county, Virginia, has had the law on the books since 2007

And it's working

Well there ya go. It took a few hours today, but I learned something new. I wasn't aware Virginia was a hotbed of illegal immigrant activity.

Actually I said "I had" that is a past tense reference... And no illegals arent the only bad neighbors, I have a white natural citizen who i live near that the WHOLE neighborhood hates and my husband ended up getting into a fight with. Im just bringing up an example. Funny thing was, after we moved the house they lived in was raided, it was a drop house. Had they asked for documents the first time we had to call the cops they would have nipped that in the bud several months before hand.

If you support idiot ass illegal Mexicans so much how about you move to Mexico and stop trolling the boards with stupid statements.

I didn't say I supported illegal immigration. I just find it incredibly humorous that people attach all this stuff to illegals, and have nothing to say about the rest of the people that do the exact same things. :)

What's the secret to telling regular Mexicans from illegals?

Try living in the condo beneath two Chinese gymnasts. I did it for 1 1/2 years. I wanted to kill them.

I agree with this comment yet I disagree with it. Look at it like this, if we have to deal with black, or white gangs and/or criminals it is an american problem. We do have alot of these problems, so why do we want to add Illegals into this already over loaded problem??

Like it or not our southern boarder has a war going on. Neither the Mexican government or our Federal government will do shit about it. Our working class citizens are being killed, kidnapped, robbed, raped, and terrorized. Whats funny is we wont tolerate this from people who live on the other side of the world yet we should tolerate it at our back door?

Legal immigrants from any nation are required to speak english at a 3rd grade level and understand US history at a 4th grade level. Pretty easy to spot the illegals with these very simple tactics.

What about those crafty ones that can speak English but don't like to?

All the cooks at my local taco shop speak nothing but Spanish - do you think they are illegal? I wonder if I should report them.

But they make SUCH good burritos...

So we've switched now from "they suck the economic resources" to "they are bad neighbors" to "the Border War" that has nothing to do with some guy living in Phoenix or Virginia. Okay.

We can't stop gangs in our own cities. We certainly can't secure the border for real with what we've got down there. Although that's sort of moot since the AZ law in question has nothing to do with securing the border in any capacity. It only covers rounding up the evil brown workers.

Sigh... Trolling... I am very strong in this, yes they are horrible neighbors, yes they are a serious drain on our resources... This will lead to more drop house arrests, more coyote arrests, and this will in fact slow down the effectiveness the smugglers have in AZ.

I do agree tho, nothing will stop them from coming here until Mexico gets its head out of its ass and fixes its own problems. I vote for a Great Wall of Mexico!

And no just b/c someone chooses to speak there native language does not make them illegal, however if they are fully unable to speak english to police officers then that is a reason to ask for documents. I speak perfect english being i was born here, however cops still ask me for ID when they have to talk to me, EVEN if I call the cops I still have to provide ID for a warrant check.

I think a lot of the automatic rejection from even prominent people nationally is based on fears of how they think it could play out if the cops intentions are corrupt. So thats a separate issue. Cops could tase a woman 12 times after she called them frightened that a prowler might be outside. So of course bad cops could fuck anything up royally.

I think it needs to play out, and Arizona will change with the will of it's people, if the people so decide.

If we ran a 3 fence system with surveillance and border patrol stepping up operations, yes we can.
Then have military exercises along the border

Very VERY well put. Just b/c a cop chooses to be an ass, does not mean teh laws he is supposed to uphold are wrong. Hell in 04 there was a 15 year old shot by 6 cops, all cops unloaded there guns on the teen for wielding a knife, the kid never once attacked a cop he just wielded a knife. That is cops going to far. SO yep it can and most likely will happen. Until our cops are robots we will always have this issue.

I am sorry but your arguments are simply pethedic. The federal goverment has failed to protect our borders it is as simple as that. If you are a legal in this country I do not mind being asked to prove it, honestly it should be like that everywhere. This country is in debt, states are in debt, illegals are a huge part of that debt esp on the state level. AZ law must be passed as legal or this country is over, proving the Federal Gov has everyone one of us chained by our necks.

Our "borders" have never been more protected than they are right now. The circus at the airports are evidence of that. Our surveillance and military are as advanced as ever. We can pick out a flea's ass in full HD from fucking space. We are fully capable of locking down our border with Mexico if so desired.

This AZ law is just racial profiling. It doesn't solve anything. What's to stop them from coming right back over the border? What's to stop them in NM, TX, or CA?

Step 1. Man crosses US border illegally.
Step 2. Man gets job working in field.
Step 3. Man is hassled by the po-po outside Home Depot one day.
Step 4. Man is arrested & deported to Mexico.
Step 5. Goto Step 1.

How does this law fix this again? Seems to me that it only adds unnecessary tension in the Hispanic community.

They put up warning signs around prisons too. Are you suggesting there are homicidal escaped prisoners running loose, free & wild across the American countryside?

Actually, it caused the president to step up with ICE on arrests, when November comes and the senate gets some new blood and the US citizens keep up on this, hopefully it will result in a new shiny fence!

You could make that very same argument for practically any crime. The minute said person gets out of jail, they can go back to committing the same crimes. Which they often do.

So I guess we can either keep them in jail indefinitely or never put them in jail at all?

So you agree that we should treat the border just like prisons and build a fence and patrol it with enough armed guards to keep people on the other side of that fence?

You are finally beginning to understand. You are 100% correct that the US is capable of locking down the border. The problem is, until now, this was left to the federal government which has chosen to look the other way. Arizonans have decided to pass a law so they can protect themselves where the federal government has chosen not too.

If you want to secure the border, that's how it's done. There is no other way. I'm not sayig that's the way to go, but that is how it's done. Anything less is considered the "Honor System".

And how does this "protect" them from illegals crossing the border? No one has answered this. It doesn't stop illegals coming over the AZ / Mexico border, and does nothing to stop illegals from coming into AZ through CA or NM.

Illegal aliens will always take the path of least resistance. They want to be as unnoticed as possible so they do not end up getting deported. With the new law, how many of them do you think will stay in AZ?
