With only $20mil invested, they will still turn a profit, just not a huge one.
|
I thought the trailer looked sweet.
|
I had no idea this thread would turn out this way. I thought a few predictable trolls would jump in but WOW.
Anyway, no solid plans for tonight ... had kept August 20th reserved for Middle Men. |

Movies are either hits or flops, barely turning a profit = flop... most of the profit will go to investors and other "middle men" (no pun intended, heh)... producer invested ton of his own $$, spent years chasing around it, making deals etc, just to pretty much break even...
it's really a shame though, seemed like a decent flick, had potential to be a hit.... |

That said, I agree that it's a shame. It looks more interesting than most of the shit playing, so my fascination with this is more that it's doing as poorly as it is given what it is. |
I saw the movie and it's was great, way better than movies that make tens of millions. As I see it the main reason for the dismal numbers is the lack of promotion. I don’t know if Luke Wilson is promoting it on the talk show circuit or if there were many press junkets, but it was way better than Stallons flick the expendables which that had tons of promotion and many huge names. I guess the big screen is a lot like the internet, you have the traffic you’ll make the conversions no matter what the content is.
|
yea no fucking promotion why?? I didnt see one newpaper ad and one 10 sec tv spot i almost missed.
|
they promoted the fuck out of it here in l.a.

Standard procedure is...If your movie cost 20 Million to make, you need to put half of it in Promotion. So I don't think 10 Million more went into P & A (Print and advertising)
That could have been the problem. |

If you have any questions about the business whatsoever, I can give you her email address. She used to own an Agency, Modeling and Commercial with over 300 People on her Roster. Just not enough time in the day for her with everything she has going on. Off Topic, I may go for a ride tomorrow, maybe head towards the beach area for a drink with a buddy that lives out that way. Let me know. |
Anyone know how Zack and Miri make a Porno did?
|
Moviefone shows it in 2 theaters in Plano Texas, about a 10 hour drive from where I live.

The August 20th opening weekend has come and gone and I can't find this movie anywhere within 200 miles of me.
Anyone know when I can download it off Itunes? |
so I guess no pepsi commercials on pornhub now?

Chris Mallick never left porn. The last I heard, he is still the CEO of ePassporte, which is deeply involved in the porn biz. Meanwhile, his movie, which I saw last week, that claims to be inspired by his true story, perpetuates extremely negative stereotypes about the industry. Maybe Chris Mallick had or has mob connections, and he was an accessory to a murder, and shot an individual himself (all events depicted in the movie supposedly based upon his life), but I don't know, nor have I ever met, anyone in the industry that even remotely fits that description. He also made it clear in his movie that the billing company he was a part of and it's founders (which in real life would be Paycom), were involved in child porn, since the movie states in captions at the close that the drug addict guys whom started the billing company both served 18 months in jail on five year prison terms related to their involvement in child porn, while Mallick supposedly walked away from all of his obvious involvement in the wrongdoing. Chris Mallick basically tried to cash in by selling us out. Therefore, I'm glad that more people did not see his movie, and that Middle Men was a flop that bombed big time at the box office. ADG |
the mainstream stuff that will be sold on tubes - and is - will be late night informercial stuff.
it is a straw man to think that just because pepsi and toyota wont advertise on porn sites non-porn products wont be advertised on free porn sites. |

Interesting quote:
"Mallick himself insists he was repelled by the [porn] business but nonetheless held hostage by it for several years." |
