I'd rather have more play money. You can always deck out a smaller pad.

with money you can travel, stay at hotels, fuck whores and escorts, drinks, drugs, alcohol...

and in big house you can like cook, go to gym, clean pool, take care of lawn...
lots of shitty stuff to work on...

Money..if I had more of it I would barely be home so there would be no point to the 'pad'.

Money to invest. I truly wish I could go back 10 years. I would have saved all but what was absolutely needed for living modestly.

I was thinking of going from my two bedroom condo to a 1 bedroom apartment somewhere but then I realized I'm only paying a couple hundred dollars more a month for my place, and even though I don't really NEED the extra room that extra money is worth having a garage to me.

I don't spend money on anything anyways so it doesn't matter to me. When I have a family though I will make sure there is plenty of space.

Pimp pad, but they kind of go hand in hand. Would I strap myself for a pimp pad? no.

I live in only a 1k sq foot home 3 bed 1 bath but it's paid for.

This allows me to grow my business at a quicker rate due to having more money to invest.

In a few years that could change as my wife and I decide to start a family but ideally by then a bigger better place wouldn't be quite a large financial burden.

So I guess I'm saying go small but solid in the start for ultimate cash flow, use that money to invest or pay off debt. Do use some to relax and be happy though aswell. Just keep it reasonable and don't blow that money. I guess it would then also come down to your spending habits. Some folks NEED debt in order to not blow cash and actually build equity as they would never save or invest on their own.

Wow, that really puts it into perspective. Bigger house is a shorter leash

Well I'm moving to a new city soon and have it narrowed down to a a few places. Basically I'm trying to decide if I want to spend the money on an awesome place to live (having a pool, gym, and super nice and big living space) OR drastically cut down my mandatory expense by living in an "ok" place and having a ton more cash to spend on other stuff, entertainment, travel etc.

WWGFYD?

as a shooter I'm getting a sweet pad, other wise someting with 2/2 in a nice area is fine

strobi 10-09-2010 10:33 AM

If you're single, I'd go for the best pad you can get! If you're married, pucker up and keep it small ;)
