For the use you specified, Dreamhost is fine. I have an account and my GF has one there. She is on a different server and her sites run great. Mine are slower but acceptable for the cost. I have actually had decent support from them when I had some issues with hers like getting crons set up properly. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and if you are paying cheap for some feeder blogs then go for it.

I'm not getting the option, it still says recurring 9.95 and I don't see an option for annual.

Anyone help me out? :1orglaugh

My ICQ is above and in my profile, or hit us up on live chat, it definitely works. Once you enter your domain in, then the billing cycle will show on the ajax form.

fatfoo 11-01-2010 05:33 PM

I have not tried DreamHost. I tried http://www.justhost.com - affordable prices and great live 24/7 support. Get all your questions answered live in instant messenger chat before making any buying decision.

Damn, dude. I just renewed my Amerinoc virtual account for another year a couple of months back for $85. Including the dedicated I have with you guys, I think you should toss me one of these accounts for free :winkwink:

It doesn't hurt to ask lol... :thumbsup

Yes, each account comes with 1 unique/dedicated IP. These plans are limited to one IP per account. Additional IP's would require upgrading to a Reseller level plan.

Tell me about it, timing is everything, I bought a new car last year when the credit union came out with a special rate of 3.99%, bastards did the same special at 2.99% a few months later in the spring and didn't change mine. :(

This offer is open to existing clients as well, just has to be a new plan you add to your account. Hit me up if you have any questions on it or want to play let's make a deal on top of the current great deal. :winkwink:

Ah, that's why I'm down as paying 9.95 a month.

I wasn't too bothered as I was looking for another cheap shared hosting account anyway. But I may as well get the deal if I can.

I was probably one of the first to sign up under that deal (yesterday my time - I'll give you the order number if you want), so if I email support will they be able to change it ok?
Thanks :)

One further question before I post that email:

As I will be asking for my contract to be changed to yearly, does that mean that, at the end of the 12 month cycle, I receive a bill for a further year's web hosting?
And would that amount be $59.40?
That's the lowest monthly rate offered on the shared hosting page, which I take it is for payments one year in advance?
Just checking to make sure.
Thanks.

The annual price at renewal is $83.40, I'm not sure how or where you are seeing that price. Please email us so we can get this worked out for you and look at your order.

I just assumed when I saw the 'as low as $4.95' quoted. One should never make assumptions :)
No problem. I'm happy with the hosting and will be sending the email as soon as I post this.

That's the price for prepaying for 36 months which shows on the pulldown menu during checkout. :)

Dreamhost's support is top-notch. Even dedicated server companies can't compete with their support and backend features.

I've been hosting with Dreamhost since 2005.
I've come to know several of their restrictions:
- they have a limit on the number of files you can store.
- they empose memory limits on virtual clients. If you hit the memory limit, the sites will show an internal server error or bad config error.

I've never hit the bandwidth limit, lol.

You can order additional IPs from them anytime.

I still stand by Dreamhost, but I have to say AmeriNOC killed it in this thread. Even I was one of the first few in here to take them up on their offer, as I could use another virtual account as well. Gives me something to do this week.

Thanks AmeriNOC.

I host shared accs on Cyberwurx, man they are great with support and uptime is super 99.999999999

Frasier 11-02-2010 05:17 AM

I just tried to buy a second one. The coupon code still showed as valid but I was invoiced for the full amount.

I have not paid the invoice. I opened a ticket (WJQ-652730) - please get the amount corrected and I will pay asap.

Shoplifter 11-02-2010 12:36 PM

It was set to only allow one per person. You opened two tickets up, I responded to the other one but haven't heard back.

Dreamhost's standard shared hosting works great for backups due to the huge disk space they give you although you have to stay under the radar since it's not officially permitted for such use. :upsidedow They will also work with regular pages or low resource scripts as long as you stay under about 1,000 - 3,000 uniques and don't care if the site goes down every now and then or gets throttled and you have backups.

But with the offer Amerinoc put on the table I think you'd be a fool to go with Dreamhost provided the plan suits you. While I have no experience with them I can't recall anyone saying a bad word about them.

mgtarheels 11-02-2010 02:04 PM

any amerinoc on? i need to transfer my site
