if you would just depart instead of pretending to be in this business, my one liners wouldn't bother you.

In many ways this is close to an ideal turn of events.

Now the republicans have to actually come up with legislation. They've been defending a fixed position, the easiest kind of warfare. Now they'll have to engage the actual problems, instead of blocking.

We should be rooting for them to repeal the healthcare bill, it was a bailout of the insurance industries, and a bad bill.

We should be rooting for them to investigate global warming and block research - nothing could be better than having them protect the oil industry.

Let them attack the gays - nothing could be better. Let them attack the colored - nothing could be better. Let them ban stem cells and outlaw abortion - it's absolutely perfect.

Let's see how they create jobs. Let's see what issues they decide to own.

Go look up the Bush/GOP controlled Congress combo from 2001-2007 and say that. It's amazing that Obama couldn't fix 8 years of Bush fuck ups in 18 months and somehow that means he sucks. Where else in the real world does that standard even apply?

Kiopa_Matt 11-03-2010 02:08 AM

The bad thing about this is, now absolutely nothing will get done for the next two years, because the Republicans such childish kids who have proven time & time again they're only in it for political points, versus doing what's right.

Then it will all get blamed on Obama, and the Republicans will take a sweeping victory in 2012. So the US will stay at a standstill for 2 more years, then get fucked in the ass hard for at least the next 2 years.

I can just picture the Chinese politicians & businessman smoking their cigars, and drinking their champagne in glee right now...

I just want you to answer this... when you look at your personal earnings and spendings, is it really much of a difference who is running the country?

And this is why the Keynesian architects will have their hands tied to a certain extent. There will not be the supporting political capital or will.

This is what they overlooked, and yes, it is likely to kick off the next round of deflationary pressures.

IMO, we are getting ready to exit the eye of the storm. :Oh crap

VikingMan 11-03-2010 05:56 AM

Not going to read this thread but you have to be a complete idiot at this point if you do not realize that both Republicans and Dems are controlled by the same people behind the scenes.

cwd 11-03-2010 06:14 AM

ok, the Republicans won! Now things are going to be so much better for all!

what's true in the eyes of an unaccomplished euro doesn't generally turn out to be the truth. Thats why you get ridicule instead of debate.
you have to atleast hang on the bottom rung of intelligence to expect intelligent replies.

I think you misunderstood my statement. "Let the liberals bitch" means let them bitch about whatever they can since their moronic leaders lost. I don't care who subscribes to Keynesian principles, left or right because they'd both be wrong.

you ask someone if they are 12 and the very next post 12clicks is saying something about someone being 10 years old.

do you really think anything will change? if a republican congress can get america out of the mess its in, thats great but i just don't see it happening. there is no clear path or solution as much as some people want think following the typical republican mantra (which rarely if ever even gets put into practice anyways) will do it but it won't. whats going in in the world economy is far different than the 80's.

TheDoc 11-03-2010 07:58 AM

Looks like the house cycled as expected with a few twists that naturally happen in elections... Americans spoke though keeping the Dems in overall power so the Rep's can't take us back down the shit hole path they once did before! Best part - if the Tea Party didn't inject its stupidity, the Rep's would have taken more seats.

Now the experiment to see if the Rep's can live up to anything they've said starts.

sure thing sparky. you talking about a 50yr cycle?
:1orglaugh

The Demon 11-03-2010 08:10 AM

TheDoc is in flat out denial. The American public spoke when the Republicans obliterated the Democrats in the House, and only the Tea Party stopped the Republicans from taking over the Senate. Americans were tired of the Democrats' bullshit and the right is back on top. If they don't fix things then 2012 will look like 2008 with the Democrats owning a majority everywhere.

OY 11-03-2010 08:18 AM

It boggles my mind that only about 50% of Americans can feel good about any sitting government at any given time. Strange type of democracy.

only about 50% pay taxes.

when one sitting government cuts taxes on those who pay, the people who don't pay feel cheated. When the sitting government raises taxes on the 50% who DO pay, the people who pay feel cheated.

its not much more complicated than that.

until we get to the point where only those who pay can vote (and that will never happen) we'll never have a responsibly run government.

Umm... the amount of them makes a difference? Not at all, being that it was very close to that number, several times throughout history. Is that truly the argument you guys are using? Because it's rather laughable.

Most were predicted to change well before any polls came out and many where due to flip - even if the media didn't want to say that and of course that they wouldn't.

Overall it was very few surprises for anyone that was paying attention.

Yes, a % don't pay "federal income tax" but that is just one tax on pay and one of many taxes every American pays.

It makes you sound so uneducated when you repeat this fox news spew crap.

if the only issue you care about is taxes, then move to a country where there is none. :2 cents:

Maybe you don't know this, but the USA taxes its' citizens regardless of where they live.

The only out is if you turn in your passport and renounce your citizenship.

Even then, if the IRS determines that you did this to avoid paying income taxes, they will still tax you for 10 years.

On top of that, there is an exit tax on certain assets that are moved offshore.

Yeah, thats right. I guess thats why you see more canadians moving to costa rica and the caymans rather than americans. That quite the noose around the neck. Even still, i would hope most americans aren't so self involved that the only thing they consider when voting is how much they are paying in taxes. So much more makes a successful country than just that. Step outside of yourself for a few moments.

Well, maybe... if I watched/listened/read political news from them, then your point might be valid. But of course it isn't - as usual.

But hey - let's not avoid what was being discussed... the lack of education fox news supporters all clearly have. America needs to do something about this disaster before it gets more out of control. :Oh crap

Yup and I have a lot of Canadian friends here in Panama.

To your point, there are also a lot people who support lower taxes because it's better for the economy and that's certainly part of what makes for a successful country.
