First I am a smoker - information like this is nothing new - pictures are already on Canadian cigarette packages and still do nothing to help or want me to quit. I would love to see the stats on how many people actually go, "wow that's bad - I'm quiting now".

For me my goal to stop smoking has nothing really to do with my health but now that I have two children - I want to be around when they grow up knowing the longer they have their father, the happier all of us will be.

No. Never smoked. Don't see the point. It is incredibly stupid. However, I do plenty of other stupid things, but those things don't endanger those around me.

I don't care how a person lives their life so long as their actions don't harm others. We all do stupid things. You want to drive without a safety belt, smoke, do drugs, eat fast food, fuck without a condom, skydive, work in a coal mine... whatever. Just don't hurt others in the process.

Really, your mindset on smoking is the reason non-smokers dislike smokers. Why can't you just smoke in your house, in your car or in smoking zones and be happy with that? Why try to make others around you ill? To knowingly harm others and potentially be the cause of their cancer, and be OK with it, speaks volumes about a persons character.

You do know that in the end non-smokers will prevail, don't you? As the world grows healthier, the places you will be permitted to smoke will decrease until it's just you puffing away in a designated smoking zone inside your house. So smoke up while you still can, it's not going to last forever.

I don't think smokers know just how bad they smell until after they stop smoking. You can even smell the nicotine in their sweat. And smoking outside and then coming back in doesn't mask it. You bring that funk with you. It's gnarly.

I mace rude smokers all the time. Of course, I don't walk into smoking zones to do it. I only do it to people who smoke where they are not supposed to be smoking and it blows in my face.

It's harmless and causes no long term damage. It's the least I can do.

They're just two peas in a pod, once you've been a smoker you'll understand this exactly. When you drink, you want to smoke. Then you have the obvious fact that the alcohol drops your inhibitions, and next thing you know someone who hasn't had a smoke in months will suck down a pack and a half in a night.

For most people, successfully quitting smoking means successfully not drinking for a while too. Unless you don't mind cheating your "quit" status once in a while.

I guess everyone has their vices. Mine are pizza and fucking.
