If you were going to buy a car for your mother

What would you get for her?

My mother has been hinting around that she would like something. I am thinking about a C-class 300 4matic. Anyone have any experience with one?

VikingMan 06-26-2011 04:34 AM

Now there is a good son :thumbsup

k0nr4d 06-26-2011 04:42 AM

If you live somewhere there is snow in the winter, avoid RWD.

Konrad, he said 4matic...

Minte, I like merc's... The new ones especially.. The new C class is also nice and 300 4matic is plenty.. Sounds like a good choice.. Only q I would have is if she ever drove in a merc and liked the "feel"... My mum hates the standard suspensions...

She has ridden in mine several times. She liked the comfort, was a bit overwhelmed with all the gadgets. Lots of snow to deal with in Wi. so the 4matic seems a good investment.

A black SL550 with tan interior.

Minte 06-26-2011 05:01 AM

C-class is a good size car for her. I don't think she would do well with an S.

Nathan 06-26-2011 05:02 AM

Go with the C then, it's a nice car, or an e coupe... (if she does not need the backrow seats)

BJ 06-26-2011 05:25 AM

Acura NSX

CyberHustler 06-26-2011 05:28 AM

with your xprofiles sig, its possible

TheDoc 06-26-2011 05:33 AM

Get her a Jeep. They have some damn nice ones too.

Rather dependable, great on snow and not a lot of fluff stuff that will get ignored anyway.

candyflip 06-26-2011 06:17 AM

Ahh sorry, didn't see that. I just saw c class, assumed rwd and had flashbacks of getting stuck in 5mm of snow in my 3 series at every opportunity :1orglaugh

How much is the car? We can gauge how good a son you are based on price. :)

AdultKing 06-26-2011 11:13 AM

How about a Subaru AWD ?

grumpy 06-26-2011 11:15 AM

I got her the A class, great city car with the mb quality

ottopottomouse 06-26-2011 11:34 AM

Never had any luck picking cars for others but i'm pretty good at battering the price down on what is chosen :)

e-god 06-26-2011 11:58 AM

Get her a BMW :winkwink:

I am going to call the dealer tomorrow and see what kind of deal I can get on a new C.
She is driving a Pontiac now, which was too large for her from day one.

I'm a lousy son. But I do want her to drive something safe. :) I looked up prices and they are all under $50k. So I imagine I will get one in the mid 40's

Great choice!

C class is a horrible star car. i've owned 2 unfortunately. get a bmw or vw product, much less issues and more durable.

Mr Happy 06-26-2011 02:55 PM

I would be very happy knowing my mother is safe in a Mercedes E Class or a BMW 328

Diomed 06-26-2011 03:05 PM

Get her a Cadillac.

She will love it.

Weren't you saying a while back that you had a ton of little issues with that ML you had?

Anyway, if you're going to get your mom a C... I think you should get your mom a C63. :thumbsup

Okay three things:

1. 40K for Mom? See #3
2. Can I borrow some money?
3. DAMN - YOU ARE ONE DAMN FINE SON DAMN
:)

Spunky 06-26-2011 09:00 PM

If I had the loot ,anything she wanted, but I'll stick with a Lexus

xNetworx 06-26-2011 09:40 PM

Maybe she would like a small SUV?

shimmy2 06-27-2011 12:46 AM

my c class issues (purchased brand new btw) are mostly electronic bugs... bose amplifier under seat started crackling/sparking, comand system lcd randomly shut on/off, infrared key (if you can call that plastic POS a key) failures, a/c always frosting the windows, and above all the 6spd manual tranny was shit... sticky clutch, worlds heaviest flywheel and everything. but most mb owners dont buy sticks anyway. and finally the car is simply underpowered for something of its size/weight its a slow POS. how do you feel about a $38k car that cant even chirp its own tires with a manual box and does 0-60 in like 10 seconds. at least the seats were comfy

dseo 06-27-2011 12:51 AM

I'll say SUV will be good and suits more then a Ferrari or Porsche... ;)

for what reason would his Mom need a C63? Is she gonna race to the supermarket?

John-ACWM 06-27-2011 06:45 AM

Or the G-class, sure looks more secure.

JamesGw 06-27-2011 07:44 AM

I'd get her a 2012 Taurus SHO when it comes out because, well, it's a badass car.
