Critically acclaimed US mob drama The Sopranos has once again whacked its rivals after it was voted the best written TV series of all time by the Writers Guild of America.

Google Expert 06-05-2013 04:36 AM

I agree.

AllAboutCams 06-05-2013 04:46 AM

An american series won an american award good going well done :upsidedow

brassmonkey 06-05-2013 04:51 AM

that's their opinion :1orglaugh :1orglaugh there's so much out there no need to crown a greatest if you have a open mind. :2 cents:

tony286 06-05-2013 04:55 AM

I would say All in the Family.

Where your vote goes to? Desperate Housewives? :1orglaugh

CDSmith 06-05-2013 08:43 AM

Well cast, well acted, well written and well directed. It's definitely among the few series at the top of the heap, no one with any sense should question that.

I can live with people calling it #1. It's arguable, and quite subjective, but I won't quibble about it. In the end they left everyone wanting more, something a lot of productions out there don't attain.

blackmonsters 06-05-2013 09:19 AM

And somebody watched all the TV series all of all time and figured this out. WOW!

When people like something they can be so full of shit about it.

:1orglaugh

Rochard 06-05-2013 09:20 AM

Sopranos was great. I'm just really glad that I never watched it when it was on TV, but instead waited until the entire series was done and then watched it all in one month.

baryl 06-05-2013 09:28 AM

I'd give The Wire the top spot with Sopranos or Six Feet Under #2 and #3.

All HBO shows....

Paul 06-05-2013 09:29 AM

Breaking Bad is much better IMO :2 cents:

:thumbsup

The Wire was fantastic, it had one of the best endings for a TV series. They did a great job tying up all the plot lines.

Caldo 06-05-2013 11:59 AM

For sure is the best one,my favorite :thumbsup

HomegrownCash 06-05-2013 01:02 PM

Was good but I wouldn't say its the best

never watched desperate housewives
no need to crown a best in my opinion. how can you have a best if you've never seen everything?
just a few:
quantum leap
sanford and son
battlestar galactica
the hulk
highway to heaven
star trek the original(big mistake cancelling would have been huge)

there are so many hits

i put the two side by side at the top.... Lost is way up there for me too, and is the only show i have ever really been sad about ending

Sopranos, Breaking Bad
Lost
The Wire
Six Feet Under
Seinfeld
MASH

list goes on and on... best series all depends on your taste :2 cents:

J. Falcon 06-05-2013 02:13 PM

The Wire was head and shoulders above in every aspect.

J. Falcon 06-05-2013 02:14 PM

Luck was going to be an epic show I thought... too bad.

Sarah_Jayne 06-05-2013 02:55 PM

I enjoyed it but The Wire blows it out of the water.

NaughtyRob 06-05-2013 03:52 PM

And Seinfeld #2. They definitely got it right. Both rocked.

LittleMissBrat 06-05-2013 04:55 PM

Ugly Betty

I guess it doesn't count since it's still going but I think Boardwalk Empire will be up there among the best when it's finished.

Same here. No better way to watch a series. Start to finish in your own time. Boom.

Not sure why you're laughing, Desperate Housewives is a fantastically written show.

So by this reasoning, there can be no best of anything ever?

EDIT :

Best voted by writers guild...so therefore...

Lester Burnham 06-05-2013 09:01 PM

You can't beat dialogue like this (in all seriousness, I still think The Simpson is brilliant):

Redrob 06-05-2013 09:10 PM

I liked the Sopranos; but, I didn't care for the ending. I thought the ending was a cop out and very, very lame.

Robbie 06-05-2013 09:12 PM

I would agree....but I would also give a big vote for "Deadwood"

Redrob 06-05-2013 09:13 PM

Deadwood was right on. I also like Hell on Wheels so far.

scuba steve 06-05-2013 09:43 PM

Kinda cool seeing the six feet under mentions. Feel like that's always been an unappreciated show, I think the ending is one of the best I've ever seen

Yeah, same here. It would have been hard at certain points to wait a week or a whole season to see the outcome. :thumbsup

mikesouth 06-05-2013 09:56 PM

No way the Wire and Breaking Bad are both better hell even Justified is way better written. and for the older stuff..M A S H, All In the Family, Sanford and Son were all superb (and better)

As for all time Best I gotta go with The Wire

sandman! 06-05-2013 10:04 PM

was a great show

I agree, that's what brings it down for me personally

Another 10/10 :thumbsup Ian McShane was fantastic!

Hmmm IMO Deadwood is 10/10 and Hell On Wheels is 7/10, it's just no where near as good as Deadwood in any way.

I have enjoyed Boardwalk Empire more than the Sopranos both are quality shows though, Boardwalk has the edge for me because the plots and time it's set in are more interesting.

I hope in season 4 Al Capone has more showtime, Stephen Graham is a great actor!

Paul 06-06-2013 03:06 AM

BTW for anyone who loved The Wire, you should check out David Simon's new show Treme

Completely different type of show, it's about New Orleans after Katrina.

It's more of a drama but if you're a fan of incredibly well written characters and plot lines then you'll enjoy it :thumbsup

seeandsee 06-06-2013 03:25 AM

Great show, top 3 for me!
