Jon Bon Jovi fires Richie Sambora

Never say goodbye.... :disgust

Quote:

NEW YORK, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Longtime Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora has been fired from the New Jersey rock band and will not be returning to the group's concert tour, RumorFix said.

The celebrity news website cited sources close to the band as saying Sambora wanted more money and front man Jon Bon Jovi declined.

Sambora, a Bon Jovi musician for 30 years, was making $2 million a month and 20 percent of the profits of each concert. In a massive drop in payments, his replacement, Philip "Phil X" Xenidis, is making $10,000 a month.

Sambora is expected to continue getting royalty checks since he co-wrote many of the band's biggest hits and his image appears on merchandise, the report said.

"Richie wants to go back on stage -- that's his first love. He's really upset over the news," an insider told RumorFix.com.

Nice pocket change :)

tony286 08-25-2013 05:04 AM

I wonder then if they arent actual members of the band and just Bon Jovi employees.Because if they all own the same percentage of the band. There is no asking for a raise, everything after expenses is split among the members of the band inc.
If you ever saw the Metallica doc when they picked a new bass player. They gave him a advance of 1 million dollars against his 25 percent of band ownership.
Man Richie was making a nice payday, one his solo career will never make.

tony286 08-25-2013 05:06 AM

now here they say he is still in

$2 million a month AND 20% of concert profits for doing a job that can be replaced by an 8 bit computer and he wanted more money?

Guy's a fucking moron and deserves to end up homeless and broke

adultchatpay 08-25-2013 05:50 AM

Sounds too greedy?

theres a BJ doc called when we were beautiful... which was really good. pretty much explains that JBJ is the CEO and there rest of them are pretty much along for the ride. and the rest of the band seemed to be ok with that cause JBJ is a great businessman. was way better than the metallica doc.

L-Pink 08-25-2013 06:29 AM

So, 24 million a year and 20% of a band that tours like mad? Guy's crazy. Maybe he should tour with Axel Rose, no one want's to see him either, lol.

Greedy, yes. But hardly a moron. He's worth more and lived better than probably everyone on this board combined. And when the history books are written about this period of time, his name will probably be in it. Yours, mine, and everyone else here will not get a mention. Well, maybe Fabian will get a blurb, but everyone else is kicking rocks.

TheSquealer 08-25-2013 06:34 AM

That had to be an awesome conversation. "You know how I only make 2 million a month and 20% of all band revenue and royalties for fucking an endless parade 18 year old super models and playing songs on my guitar for 45 minutes a night, a couple times a week?.... Well, here's my problem with that..."

lol ?. Yea, "I make $66,000 a day base salary, 20% of what the band pulls in when we play a few times a week, but dude, have you seen the cost of living here in New Jersey?"

i thought he had been replaced on the last tour anyways already with the guy from RATM

Rochard 08-25-2013 07:27 AM

$2 mil a month sounds like a lot of money to us, but I am guessing they are all used to making so much more...

Jon Bon Jovi is pretty notorious for being a smart businessman. I'm surprised it took him this long to do it.

I saw that movie with Ben Affleck. Living a single life with a kid must be expensive in NJ. :pimp

True dat. There was a documentary on HBO or one of those cable channels a few years back that followed them on tour. While that was the main focus, it also had a lot of overlap with JBJ and his arena football league team, and other stuff he's involved in. All in all a busy guy who's done well in his various business ventures.

LOL Classic.
Maybe Sambora's ex-wives are milking him and he needs the dough yo.

fitzmulti 08-25-2013 08:49 AM

Looks like a new song about Tommy and Gina will be on the way soon!

He's also a notorious cunt. They won some award recently and all he talked about was himself. Not once did he thank his band mates. Also, Richie Sambora co wrote a lot of the songs that made them famous. A friend of mine used to run production for a lot of concerts that came to toronto in the 80s and 90s and he said he's a proper dickhead.

2 million a month just as a salary/wage? It sounds like it should be royalties included... I mean where would those 2 million come from otherwise? Not from concerts because it has different 20% deal..

People who don't make any real money or employ any number of people interpret the persons hard work, drive to be perfect and to put out the best product possible as being a "dickhead"

I'm sure your friend, the Harvard MBA and self made millionaire setting up and tearing down stage sets for minimum wage which was a job his probation officer got him, spent a great deal of time pondering that between piss tests

dyna mo 08-25-2013 10:56 AM

i'm guessing, as we all are, except the parts about bon jovi being a dick, that's documented elsewhere,

but i'd wager sambora was wanting more because bon jovie was making more, if they are both either playing guitar or singing for 45 minutes the same songs they both get credit for co-writing, and dude is making $4m/month and i'm making $2m, i'm going to ask for more, doesn't mean a dickhead should fire me from my band.

that's pretty shitty. fuck you sambora, now i get your $2m too? huh?

not to mention depriving lifelong fans of seeing ritchie jam on guitar.

you know sambora made a massive significant contribution to the band he made huge. i seriously doubt they would have achieved anywhere near the success they did if he were not an instrinisc part of that band.

and besides, who fires someone for asking for a raise? i mean wow, that's dickhead stuff man. i mean rly.

i have no problem calling him a dickhead. if i bought tickets to see a show with the original lineup and arrived there to find out the main guitarist was fired for asking for more and isn't playing, fuck yeah, i'd be calling bon jovi a dickhead.

that's a dickhead move to do to fans.

I actually think the opposite. While he may have contributed a great amount to the artistic value, the music, it was Jon that fueled their business decisions and his decisions are why they make the money that they do.

He owns the stage, making it cheaper and more profitable. He created various ticket packages, again increasing profit. So on and so forth. Very smart guy. Richie may have a great music mind, but Jon was the money. Lots of great musicians out there make jack, I don't think anyone can argue that.

L-Pink 08-25-2013 11:11 AM

Bon Jovi's fans will sell out the venue if he's singing to a karaoke machine. :2 cents:

Much like Gene Simmons jew of KISS lore. The rest of the band can thank him for making them what they are.

i just checked for their show at staples center in oct, tickets are $250 each, the $500 seats are presold in the ticket scams currently running we never get a shot at those.

that's what an mba gets ya.

still not getting the original story line though, it doesn't say how much more he wanted, if it was equal to the singer's or more even, which i doubt. but again, a lot of egos involved, not just sambora's.

so let's say he was making $2m, jan was making $4m and sambora asked for $500k more, is that out of line?

who knows. i do think that music is more important than money in the music bidness but which is king eh? content or traffic.

anyway, also, re: bon jovi's business contributions, they came much later right? he wasn't making business decisions for slippery when wet, eh.

You should watch the documentary on them. It was all Jon Bon from the beginning.

The rest of the band should simply thank him for making them millionaires through his business decisions and guidance to this day.
