Congress Overwhelmingly Votes YES to New Russian Sanctions & Limiting Trump's Power

Now Trump has to sign it into law, if he doesn't it goes back to congress for a 2/3 vote to overule Trump, and they will!

Bladewire 07-25-2017 02:25 PM

"Lawmakers voted 419-3 to approve legislation is seeking to punish Russia over a host of issues, including its alleged meddling in the 2016 presidential election, its support for the Syrian government and alleged support for the rebels in Ukraine, as well as Crimea?s accession to Russia.

The sanctions target a wide array of entities and individuals ? including Russia?s energy sector, banks and weapons manufacturers, as well as those whom the US has accused of interfering in the US presidential election through hacking and otherwise.

To reverse each of the sanctions, the administration would have to provide evidence and certify that the conditions that prompted them have been removed.

Despite expressing doubts about Russia?s alleged interference in his election, President Trump would sign the legislation, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Sunday.

However, the following day Huckabee Sanders said the president was going to ?study that legislation and see what the final product looks like.?

yes but I am wondering how the 400+ people who voted on this, deal with the hypocrisy of the situation and manage to take themselves seriously...I think this is more of a case of "pooty got us bad" and they will try to make the oligarchs go from 12 castles to 9...it will probably fuck up many people US people who do business with russia and open up a spot for some chinaman...its a bizarre event in any case...

I am 46-years-old and as far back as I can remember there has been one message that is told to US citizens over and over and over again. That message: Russia bad, U.S. good.

It's that simple. Most people in this country don't see it as a hypocrisy because we are raised to believe we are better than Russia and they are our enemy. If you interfere in our election you are bad. If we interfere in yours, we are protecting ourselves and democracy.

Another reality is that the U.S., at least in my lifetime, has never been afraid to cut off its nose to spite its face.

I don't think he will veto it. 40%+ of the country already thinks he colluded with the Russians to win the election. After a landslide vote like that his veto would look really bad for him at a time his son and son-in-law are in hot water and with a landslide vote like that his veto would likely be overturned. He already has issues with his party, the last thing he needs right now is for them to openly defy him on something major like this.

TheDynasty 07-25-2017 06:15 PM

:thumbsup it's about time they did SOMETHING!

AndyA 07-25-2017 06:55 PM

I would be willing to bet my soul Trump will veto the Russian sanctions bill and say it's because we have no proof Russia did it

Then Robbie will jump on and say 'hey we work for trump he doesn't work for us"
Or some other stupid fuck statement like that

You must be a foreigner.

This bill originated in the Senate and passed 98-2 and procedurally had to be originated in the house because of a technicality involving legislation having to do with revenue. So now the House passed it 419-3, hence my thread title "Congress Overwhelmingly Votes YES to New Russian Sanctions & Limiting Trump's Power"

An American would know the history of this bill, educate yourself, going back to the Senate will not be an issue and it will on Trumps desk within the week, you didn't know that either

I'm not taking any bet that involves Trump. I don't think he will veto it, but he is unpredictable at best so there is no way of knowing exactly what he will do.

For all I know he will veto it then tweet out that he didn't veto it.

The list of countries all over the world that America has interfered in is long. But the biggest joke is what has Russia done to interfere in the US elections?

They did what?

You have no proof. You have media spin and nothing more.

Russia should face sanctions, but not for what they are alleged to have done in the US elections. If that were the criteria the US would be facing sanctions from Europe.

Sarn 07-26-2017 06:08 AM

This really good sanction. )) Now need wait result, I hope Trump will approve it))

Europe is an allie Paul, they're not an advesary. It's like friends trying to push something in their favor not an advesary that wants to destroy your way of life.

The hacks, and Russians meeting with Trump Jr. with stolen data on Clinton is all the proof we need, on top of all the other solid proof & people fired and being investigated for lying about Russia.

No, I do not think that so stop trying to put words into my mouth. I care deeply about the US as I have family living there. It's also the leader of the free woerld so it's in my interest to make sure things go right. I don't like what Putin is doing and welcome sanctions against him. Even if it means a little discomfort for Europe for a while.

You think everything would come good if only Clinton was elected to a corrupt democratic government. It would make little difference.

So it's OK to hack your allies.

What was revealed in these famous hacks that made Americans vote differently? Something they should know, shouldn't know or a load of bollox?

You can't see this is the elite trying to remove a man who wasn't meant to win. OK, so it's Trump and he is a bad President but he was elected. Remember how Obama came to office and was thwarted all the way by the two houses. This is what Americans politics has reduced itself to, the 1% buying politicians and power.

Haha, you are too funny. It still has to pass the Senate dingus! Again! It doesn't matter where it originates! If I was a foreigner I would probably have better things to do than correct you in every other thread. As it is I find it distressing to know that a countryman of mine was obviously high or asleep in civics 101. I'm interested to see if they will overrule Trump.

Your an idiot and you don't comprehend English well :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

"I'm interested to see if they will overrule Trump." You're so stupid. 517 people in congress voted to limit Trumps power, 5 voted against it. Only an idiot would think they won't get the 2/3 vote to overule a veto by Trump. Keep dreaming snowflake.

Haha you are endlessly entertaining! You claim to speak and write English well yet you don't know the difference between "Your" and "You're". How embarrassing, and I've quoted it before you could change it!

Don't you enjoy it when someone goes on and on about someone else's perceived ability, and then makes a foolish mistake like that in front of everyone? Classic!

Why don't you peruse this article by a publication that may meet your standards, CNN. Read this paragraph especially, please. I've helpfully quoted and bolded it for you so you don't have to read the whole article:

"The vote was 419-3. The legislation moves to the Senate, but it's unclear when the Senate will vote on the measure, which includes new sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea. Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman Bob Corker indicated Monday he may want to make some tweaks to the bill, which was negotiated between the House and Senate after the initial version he drafted sailed through on a 98-2 vote."

House overwhelmingly passes Russia sanctions bill

Haha at this rate, I should get paid for tutoring you. Let's see if in your next post, you can achieve correct grammar and spelling. That will make me feel like we're getting somewhere with all this work I'm having to do.
