For the people who live where it snows
I grew up on top of a mountain in NJ. When it snowed our power would go out and we would be snowed in for days. I was thirteen years old when I decided I would move some place where it didn't snow. Eventually I ended up California. If I really want to see snow it's about forty-five minutes north of me. Otherwise I never ever see snow.
Here is my question.... When you all know it's going to snow why don't you all stay the fuck home? I live thousands of miles from New England and I knew a storm was coming for you all... Meanwhile I'm sitting here on Tiktok watching videos of you all sliding off the road and pile ups on freeways. |
I wish everyone was as smart as you, and lived life like you do.
Because then we wouldn't have to see you complain about fucking EVERYTHING |
reminds me of your thread asking why people live in Florida since hurricanes sometimes hit there.

I have family who live in Florida. A few times a year they have to board up their house and leave because of a hurricane. Pass. People say the thing same about California and fires. "Aren't you afraid of fires?". Nope. I moved to California in 1989 and never seen a large fire. We had one by us... But that's different than having to board up my house four times a year a leaving. We had an earthquake alert this morning. There was a 5.9 in Nevada. I didn't feel anything. That was the first time my phone gave me the earthquake alert. |
Canadians will walk in the worst weather to get to Tim Hortons.
We play and love this shit with 110F summers and -40F winters.. go google polar swimming (or polar bear plunge) to see just what we can put up with. There are teens that walk to school wearing shorts in weather that your navy seals would say "fuck this shit". https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fr04-H8XwAArdYl.jpg |

I hate snow and winter. 7 months of cold weather, little to no sun. This is Poland. I dream to spend winters in Spain (Canary Islands) or Sicilia. Someday when i reach enough earnings online, my wife will quit her 9 to 5 job and we will move to Spain foe every winter

Roch, for real, this thread is obtuse as fuck
you live in a gated community and work online in one of the safest parts of one of the wealthiest states in a so-called "first world" nation and you're wondering why some people have to go out in bad weather to do crazy ish like go to work. a lot of people need to actually leave their homes to pay the bills and feed their fams even in criminally arctic climes the stuff about hurricanes extra special. like you, I decided where I wanted to live 14 years before it happened. took a lot of saving up but ultimately was delayed for a few years until JA lifted their ban on pet importation. in that time went through multiple hurricanes and an earthquake in a few nations, and like here, always had the funds for the safest non-expat housing which most of my friends could not/can't afford when Melissa was on it's way, I could have bounced to my mom up in Canada, but I stayed cuz I have a goat (pet not food) and I knew some peeps in my community would need shelter. they had no choice to leave, where the fuck would a semi-rural born JA'er seek refuge internationally from a storm? I got one of my friends and her fam out on my fam's airmiles cuz her job would have been in jeopardy without net access, but beyond that? I can't even fathom what you were thinking composing your OP. suggest you spend less time on fb and maybe read up on a whole world that exists outside your community not tryna start a fight, simply being forthright that your attitude reeks of unaware privilege. you can change that without even going out to cut your grass to adhere to HOA rules remember an entire world exists beyond the confines you've set for yourself. explore it, even if just online. you're totally capable of that peace |

I don't mind the snow very much, it's the cold and wind that annoy me.
Regarding power outages and being snowed in, that doesn't happen much anymore. Our power grid is very robust. I don't even feel the need to buy a generator. The people I know who have them, never need to use them. |

Same... shovelling snow is actually really good exercise. After I do my driveway, paths, porches etc, I will go and shovel for a few neighbours. It's especially fun when there is a major dump of snow. https://i.cbc.ca/ais/93e73f0e-7b36-4...0%2C2098%29%3B https://montreal.citynews.ca/wp-cont...g-1024x688.png https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/...qcGc@._V1_.jpg https://montreal.citynews.ca/wp-cont.../02/Snow-3.jpg https://horrorpress.com/wp-content/u...large.jpg.webp |

But then one day you notice you spent an entire day shoveling snow. Then the power goes out for two days the entire family huddles up in front of the wood stove, the same wood stove you spend all summer collecting wood for. I don't want to adjust. And I was bothered by it. It's a major pain in the ass. I still have family and friends in NJ and New England. They are on Facebook saying "here we go again". This morning I went to a ground breaking ceremony a few blocks from my house and took my dog. I've decided to live some place where it doesn't snow and we don't have such problems. |
