bush wants gay marriage ban for sinners
"I believe marriage is between a man and a woman and I believe we ought to codify that one way or the other and we have lawyers looking at the best way to do that," the president said at a wide-ranging news conference at the White House Rose Garden.
Mr. Bush also urged, however, that America remain a "welcoming country" - not polarized on the issue of homosexuality. He said he was "mindful that we're all sinners and I caution those who may try to take a speck out of the neighbor's eye when they got a log in their own. I think it is important for our society to respect each individual, to welcome those with good hearts." |
What are you going to do now?

i think the term marriage for purposes of definition should be defined between man and a woman
there isnt anything wrong with gay people i guess unionizing or whatever though |
Mine either Jimmy,

Unions are fine but when your lover is in ICU and they forbid their sig other to see them but let in a sister who has not talked to them in 20 years sucks. Most everything else we can do contractual for rights and benefits. |

i'm speaking on the simple definition of the word, not its legal implications. gay people should get the tax breaks and shit like anyone else. i'm just saying if they are really so concerned about the sanctity of the word "marriage" they dont need to define it as such. |
Speration of church and state? If you are going to ban something don't use religious terms to do so and then expect to be taken seriously.
Marriage is a religious term and more or less a phoney word anyway. The fight for the right to have your relationship LEGALLY recognized isn't always about the ability to get married in a church. It is about being able to have the right to be by your partner's side when they are in the hospital, it is the right to be their next of kin, it is about health insurance, etc. The new rules that have been just set up in the UK also put into place a form of divorce for gay couples. This means that there are rights AND responsibilites. Which is always something people blab on about. Imagine if straight people had to fight for the right to be with the person they love. Suddenly you would have a lot more couples that were together forever because otherwise it wouldn't be worth the fight. Amazing how little time is spent legislating against hate and how much is spent legilating against love. |
REDNECK MOFO! Very disturbing to see someone like that have that much power!

with the economy racked to Hell and all the other domestic problems surrounding this administration.. and he's wanting to focus on gay marriages... doesn't surprise me..
|
Welcome to the coming theocracy.
Its time to start shooting christians on sight, before its too late. |
Welp Disney recognizes gay relationships and now Walmart so we are on a roll.
As for tax benefits, I used to claim my wife as a dependent, we had a slew of contracts to handle the legal stuff etc. To me legalizing my marriage to a woman is more sanctifying it than it is getting tax breaks and legal things covered. But good old Pope Paul just spoke a few days ago, "Pooing" the idea and speaking against it. Things will change when he passes. This is why I walked away from being a Roman Catholic and am just a catholic. At least my being a lesbian is not an issue. |

Of course, he & his administration were a tad bit OFF before 9/11! |
Where are the tards who argue that the republican party being run by fundamentalist theocrats is a bunch of liberal lies?
12clicks, you out there? or are you busy trying to get that log out of your eye? :winkwink: Just hating towelheads isn't good enough. You should hate christians too. That goes for the rest of you right wingers. |

I suggest you start doing more to gain my favor before the revolution comes. Do it for your children. |
Good, hopefully next step will be to ban gay sexual activity on television.
Next time I turn on another show where one dude has his tongue in anothers mouth, i'm going to lose my fucking patience. Why is it that the smaller the minority is, the more attenion they have to get? |

Thank you for your co-operation. |
I don't understand how someone in his position could infer being gay is a sin.
God was that a dumb ass statement to make. He just lost a huge amount of votes. Fuck, just let everyone have the same equal rights. I'm sick of the government being able to control everyone's private affairs. |

I can't stand it when big networks do it for a cheap pop, though. It's as bad as making one of the characters think she's pregnant. It's not that small a minority.. the estimates are 10% of the population is not straight. That's a pretty big minority! |

So he pretty much said.. "God decided to kill thousands of people and knew that I was the guy that could handle the aftermath.." No wonder more and more people are looking at religion as a joke.. |
