Will Eminem's death equal more press than MJ?
Depending on the situation but either way it'd be another frenzy.
First, search & replace "Michael Jackson" for "Marshal Mathers aka Eminem / Slim Shady" and all the same articles will apply ... i.e. huge estate, vaults of unpublished works, musical genius, huge fan base, etc... oh and don't forget to change King of Pop to Rap ... simple though, 3 char :2 cents: :rasta |
I can't see that happening. They aren't even in the same league.
|
Nah. You're talking about a guy whose influence may come or guy, without much of a legacy yet... let's see what he does before he croaks.
:D |
Well: he was born white, he's not a pedophile, and sad to say it, but lacks half the talent MJ had.
You might as well be asking the same about Kid Rock. |

Nope...not at all.
|
no way, that will never happen, MJ never ate ass from a wanna be gay (Ms. Bruno) in public :P
|
The only one who can come close is Rick Astley.
I think eminem almost died a few years ago but there wasn't much press coverage. |

Maybe Britney? |
No, Oprah.

No way at all.

Eminem? LOL!
|
Eminem caters to a generation of locusts - who thrive on consuming what they want and ruining whats left for everyone else when they move on, without a single care
slim shady is nothing more than another consumption to them so.... no |

MJ is in the distinguished company of artist/entertainers like Bing Crosby and Elvis. I can't think of any individual music artist/entertainer in the past 20+ years that is comparable to these guys.
|
They aren't even in the same realm.
A CNN story that I watched the other day said that his European tour sold 1 million tickets in 5 hours. And that is after he hadn't performed in years, with a good percentage of the population thinking that he was a child molester. His influence on music, video, and society as a whole are undeniable. I agree with Mike33, he's up there on level footing with Elvis. Somehow, I don't see Eminem ever achieving a fraction of what MJ did, starting with 4 consecutive #1 Billboard singles off the first major label Jackson 5 album. |
are you fucking kidding me?
|
The question should really be, "Why do people forget that MJ was a child molester when he died?"
|
The only other musician that can be compared to MJ in terms of being popular for so long and always being edgy is.... Madonna.
|
Eminem is a great talent but he's not even in the same galaxy as Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson was without question the single most popular and successful artist globally of the last century. Bring it, haters.

The short answer is no.
MJ has a worldwide following. |

no possible way.
MJ was a global icon, not just in the US. Almost everyone loves MJ's music, from the 80s to now, while Eminem is only more recent and his fan base is well short of MJ's I cant really imagine anyone's death who would have such an impact like his did, including Ophra, Obama, or even Ryan Secrest :winkwink: |

Michael was 9 then. And the J5 got to be huge in pop music in the 70's. I remember that, because I am old as dirt. :winkwink: So he is something that we very rarely ever see. Matter of fact, I can't think of anyone else that was both a child star and an adult star. (edit: Maybe Elizabeth Taylor? I don't know her story, but I think she was pretty young in National Velvet) In essence, he lived almost his entire life in the public eye. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. |
