Ouch Chicago...
I did not see you going out in the first round!
Rio, Olympics then? |
Total bullshit. First round? They were the front runner. Fuck the Olympics. Rio? Ok murder and AIDS capital go for it.
|
Thought Chicago was going to have a real shot at this.
|
Madrid FTW
|
I just loved the question from the committee "What is your view about the way the US is currently mistreating tourists and visitors at customs on arrival" :thumbsup
|
Investigation is needed.
|
Rio vs Madrid ...the bookies didn't see that!

I hope whoever does win is allowed to enjoy the feeling. When we won, it was amazing. My phone rang less than a split second after with people booking space on my floor for the event. The whole town smiling.
Then the next morning we had bombs blowing up the underground and buses. Emotional whiplash of the extreme. |

I totally disagree with this decision - Chicago may be rough, but seriously is better than most on the list - and don't forget the $$ from those watching the games would be higher on American soil Maybe we should be asking the committee, "IT'S BECAUSE WE HAVE A BLACK PRESIDENT ISN'T IT?" |
Great, now the republicans will waste all the good tv airtime accusing Obama of wasting SOOOOO much time on this while people die without healthcare. Thats actually what gets me the most about this, is the ammunition his opposition gets now for 15 more minutes of wasted time.
|
bummer :(

I'm pulling for Madrid.
Mainly cause I want to take my kids to this Olympics. Nothing like planning for a vacation six years in advance! |
The USA has had it more than any other country and one in recent memory was seen as a failure. If they want to introduce it to a new continent I can see it. Madrid right after London would take some explaining.

lol, good point, Sarah.
I'd rather see it go somewhere scenic and green and beautiful anyway. When I think of Chicago I think of big buildings and dark dreary rainy/snowy days and Oprah, lol. |
Sucks...I was sooo rooting for my homies...
:( |
I vote for Rio - it's time the olympics came to south america...
It's true about customs and security when flying into the US, as ppl say "It's the world we live in" This is partly payback for 8 yrs of Bush, no one will admit it but it's true... |
Madrid has most of the venues built already but I bet Rio gets it.

Oh and Oprah was so rude in the one bit I heard form her. She said to the press of Denmark 'this is a nice city but ours is better'. Wow, go home then.
|

Maybe they just thought you can't have the world come to you like that. |
100% correct....this is back lash for Bush. The rest of the world is pissed and showed it by booting us out of the race so early. They were making a point.
|
Rooting for Rio.
I don't hope Madrid gets it only because of Samaranch's (the fascist and nazi sympathizer) plea. |
And Rio should get it about time the Olympics goes to South America and the timing is better for me don't have to get up before noon to watch the early morning events ;)
|
you pro-chicago olympics folks are aware of how corrupt that city's government is right?
how could the olympic committee trust any plan submitted by chicago? that's just asking for trouble and a blank-check to scammers and organized crime. |
Sarah,
In the near future and in generations to come in the future - we will most likely become "1 world" instead of many different countries - especially when travel to and from other worlds is more possible. Govt's and ppl will give up more privacy for more security - retina scans, etc, etc will be normal.. I don't agree with it but it's going to happen... Many European countries are in the no visa rule to come to the us but we still make it a pain in the tush :) I am not hating on my country but with 2 wars, gitmo, etc, etc the world for a bit is done and sick of the US.. Yes - the world wants the us to get the world out of the current economic state were in but it's somewhat of a payback visa vi the olympic games... Obama did what he had to do, he would of caught more flack not going and us not getting it then him going and we still losing out.... Now I remember the movie, Remember the Titans (I love that flick) "it's the world we live in" |

They could care less about any of that, trust me....... |

There is corruption everywhere.... When your awarded the games it's pretty much a business deal plain and simple.. As the host city - you provide this and that..... They don't care about the mob, daley family, etc, etc.... |
Damn, thats a bummer. I thought Chicago would of had a chance. If its in Rio, definitely not a place I plan to visit
|
Chicago was undone by a negative reputation internationally.
"The violence in the schools became an international issue, and all the corruption, the rest of the world just sees us as Crook Town," |
Drudge sure is loving it.. which is kinda sick for him to be that way simply because he gets to poke fun at Obama.

eat shit
|
I am listening to Roberta Flack - Killing me softly right now, love that song :)
But anyways I truly feel bad for my president.. Not because of the Olympics - that's just politics but because our president came into office on Jan. 20th with such a fucked up hand to deal with, 2nd worse to when Roosevelt came in.... It's not cry me a river, he ran, he won - it's his job now but to imagine the shit..... I dunno...... |
