U.S. Authorities Shut Down 73,000 Blogs
 

After the U.S. Government took action against several sites connected to movie streaming recently, nerves are jangling over the possibility that this is just the beginning of a wider crackdown. Now it appears that a free blogging platform has been taken down by its hosting provider on orders from the U.S. authorities on grounds of ?a history of abuse?. More than 73,000 blogs are out of action as a result.

Bn.xx*********** was terminated by request of law enforcement officials, due to material hosted on the server.

We are limited as to the details we can provide to you, but note that this was a critical matter and the only available option to us was to immediately deactivate the server.

Please note that this was not a typical case, in which suspension and notification would be the norm. This was a critical matter brought to our attention by law enforcement officials. We had to immediately remove the server.

You created a Hollywood movie recently? You people are really fucking naive if you ever think they will go after adult sites. I won't be at all shocked to see changes made to the DMCA rules. Big companies are getting tired of websites hiding behind the loopholes in these rules and these companies have plenty of money and influence in Washington. It isn't going to happen overnight, but I won't be shocked to see a more strict version of DMCA released.

I'm not so worried about the tubes. I think the tubes will eventually take care of themselves by over-saturating the market and eventually stagnating their revenue. I want to see the torrent sites come down.

At the very least a tube site still makes you browse the site and look at ads in order to see the videos. With torrents you can download an entire member's area with just a few clicks.

That might have worked 2 years ago when the shit first started to get bad. But honestly bro...I don't know many companies left that can AFFORD to hire attorneys and fight in court.
Most of them are busy downsizing and cutting costs just trying to survive.

Not saying there aren't a handful with deep pockets. But even someone with deep pockets that has seen their revenue stream cut by 50 to 60% over the last 2 years isn't going to come out ready to fight with that money. No, they are going to hoard it and hope to ride things out.

Can't blame 'em one bit. Also consider that once you go to court suing somebody...you just put yourself on the govt. radar screen. I personally wouldn't do it even if I had the money to hand in barrels full to fucking lawyers.
