Obama won't be re-elected. It's over after DADT

The ONLY thing I really hate is when someone doesn't do what they SAY they're going to do....The Don't ask don't tell policy that was struck down by the courts was just reversed due to the Obama Administration petitioning the courts...Now why would someone want to not only go back on what they say they want, but ACTIVELY DO SOMETHING to go back on their word?...I can only think of two reasons:

1. Obama wants to pass it through Congress, and then take the credit for it.
or
2. He's lying.

Why in the FUCK would you turn your back on a large voting block like that when your approval rating is already in the toilet? And it is especially bizarre when all he had to do was NOTHING to make it happen...

It's over after this....there aren't enough niggas in America to carry him through the next election...It's over....I've never been actually pissed off about anything Obama did until today.

epitome 10-21-2010 11:09 AM

The gays learned a long time ago that Obama is only a friend when he is raising money. He probably couldn't count on the votes anyway.

Dcat 10-21-2010 11:15 AM

With Obama, I'd vote for #2 every time.

How do you know Obama is lying? ..His lips are moving.

Obama is there to push the corporate agenda, then he'll be disposed of. That was always the plan.

brassmonkey 10-21-2010 11:17 AM

well atleast he's not starting too much shit around the world like the bush family did.

Slutboat 10-21-2010 11:18 AM

I'm against DADT too - but you have your facts wrong - the appeal was all but automatic. Study up.

Nah, dude. ..Obama was put there to "advance" the corporate/military agenda, and on that count, he's been very successful.

No, YOU'RE wrong...There was no "automatic" appeal..It's a not a poker table set on autopilot...Somebody has to take action...

BFT3K 10-21-2010 11:37 AM

Yeah, you should leave those decisions up to the Republicans.

They'll take care of it for you.

No, YOU misunderstand the entire issue. It's slanted. The legal answer could be challenged, overturned, and thrown out causing a lot of trouble for the military and having to throw out all the gay soldiers. Many people were punished under DADT also. The best solution which they're trying for is having the military openly accept them.

The appeal was made because the Secretary of Defense and the Military asked him to appeal the court order. The defense department and the military has an ongoing investigation into DADT about the feasibility of changing the policy. If I am not mistaken the report is to be ready in December.

It would be unwise of him to act against the very military that he is in command of...don't you think?

Translation : I was naive and somehow thought this one man could change
things that no man before could. I didn't want to deal with the reality
that each decision he made would be fought tooth and nail by the party
he defeated to be elected. I thought he was omni-powerful and would
never have to bend to congress just to get a fraction of his plans through
and don't consider that getting a percentage of what I wanted is still
better than getting nothing that I wanted.

So, because I'm disillusioned with the reality of American style government,
I will blame it on Obama so that I don't have to face my own reality that
I expected the world from one man when in fact no man will ever deliver
the world.

Ultimately I was as naive as a child but fuck admitting that, I'd rather
blame Obama.

:2 cents:

The dems controled both houses WITH SUPER MAJORITY yet you are blaming the reps? :1orglaugh

It was a complete failure in leadership, and who is the leader? The buck has to stop somewhere.

Just like it was Bush's fault that we went to two illegal wars (that congress half-assed voted for), it is just as much Obama's fault for not doing what he said he could get done, WITH SUPER MAJORITY.

Goddamnit, I didn't ask that! Get the hell out of my office...

This vote illustrates the real problem:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/29/us...9obama.html?hp

No GOP votes at all.

In a "real world" where congress members voted based on the plan instead
of voting by the party, one would expect Obama to not always get all
democrats to vote the same. And this happens, which means Obama cannot
get a majority when dems act like real officials should.

So with some dems refusing to play party politics while repubs play hardball
partisan politics, it is expected that Obama will sometimes not be able to
get all the votes he needs.

So that "WITH SUPER MAJORITY" issue assumes that our politicians
only vote along party lines and that's simply not the way this government
was ever meant to work.

.

Seriously though, anyone that voted for Obama should have their voting rights revoked until 2016 or 2020. They are obviously irresponsible voters.

You don't understand anything about the courts if you think the feds would let a precedent like this be set. If they did, a right wing local judge could overturn Roe v Wade or some crazy shit like that. Like I said - I'm with you Brutha, I was pissed too - but I studied up.. Obama can't be faulted for this appeal - he CAN be faulted for not speaking up more vocally and explaining this appeal better.

You might like this article.

The public panned it. Republicans obstructed it. Many Democrats fled from it.

Even so, the session of Congress now drawing to a close was the most productive in nearly half a century.

Not since the explosive years of the civil rights movement and the hard-fought debut of government-supported health care for the elderly and poor have so many big things ? love them or hate them ? been done so quickly.

Gridlock? It may feel that way. But that's not the story of the 111th Congress ? not the story history will remember.
