I highly doubt it...Maybe for the normal joe.

FB is quick to kill off people's accounts for the tiniest reasons, if given a reason at all. I won't be using it.

It will be popular, for sure and I think they will get a good number of users. That said, I don't think gmail is going to lose a ton of users. The facebook email will have to be so good that it will need to convince gmail users to go through the hassle of switching email addresses and then telling everyone they talk to on a regular basis that they are doing just that. I suppose they can always use gmail's forwarding for a while until they get the change, but will facebook mail be that much more impressive that people will be driven to use it?

Google now has a lot more services like Google Apps. Hence It is not only about EMails!

Well, I moved once from yahoo to gmail, so don't think it's so SF moving to another now. But let's see if I have the motives to do so :)

Facebook will not kill Gmail. Gmail will kill Gmail. Google has done almost everything but search completely wrong and they are going to start paying for it.

facebook have had so many security/privacy problems..

I started using it and then got so bored with it. GFY is much more fun.

Bound to be big holes in it like everything else Facebook do.

If ever that's true, I have to transfer my emails and keep my emails forwarded to my webmail now.

Too many companies/universities rely on gmail. If it is a death to it it's nit happening for a while

Only issue with your argument is that Gmail is actually one thing they got right. Aside from trying to tack Buzz into it, they did alright.

All facebook needs to do is come out with an EMAIL CLIENT that is very fast, easy to use, some what customizable, and allows you to create FOLDERS and tada. You are better than GMAIL.

Make it a stand alone product so I do not have to log into my FB account, and I'm sold.

I have used Gmail since the beginning and love it. Not only that I host several .com email accounts with them. FB may get the online rookies but I don't think they have chance in reaching the truly Internet literate folks.

Gmail has folders they are just call "labels" and they work great.

Anytime something is called a killer of "x", it never ends up being that. Just some history for yall.

Try the multiple inbox feature in the Lab section. It can separate the labels into different panes for visual sorting of labeling.

I like using Facebook and all, but, given the privacy issues with Facebook, I can't imagine switching my Gmail emails to Facebook.
