I Went to a Mainstream Seminar and This is how They Operated
1. Arrived at Registration table, put on name tag.
2. (A Video is playing) A Host, asks you how many people in your group he sits your group (or just yourself) to the first seat available at the front. (no empty seats) 3. After 30 min. when a enough people have arrived he hands a free t-shirt to all the people in the front, and says The early birds always wins the prize. 4. He says, look to your left or right and shake a hand if your here to make money. 5. Seminar progresses.. |

Is there also nap time? Do you have to lie on the floor to nap and the front row gets mats?
|
I thought the early bird usually got shot.
|
That's why mainstream rocks and didn't KILL itself over the years.
They don't go to a seminar to get Hookers, drugs or alcohol... or spend 10K in hotels and drinks. It really sounds like a real business, actually. . |
were you also drunk and biting asses there?

Amen. Someone who gets it. |
It's all funny and gay but I know people pushing 5 million / year plus on just the seminar end of what they do. They also do the normal mailing list IM bullshit etc. Doctors, lawyers, real estate agents and everyone else under the sun is doing stuff like this.

Real similar intro. Also reminds me of videos I've seen of motivational speakers. Personally I don't like that kind of thing. I'm real good at talking to large crowds of people...but when I'm forced to meet strangers one on one I'm a bit shy and reserved. I prefer to sit back quietly and soak up any information that may or may not be there. The problem with the seminars that I've attended in adult (and I stopped checking them out 10 years ago) is that there is not much substance in what they are saying. They could do all those things you described Alex, but when the actual "learning" part is supposed to start...there's nothing there. Usually just somebody promoting themselves and their services. And it's ALWAYS been like that from the first show I attended in 1998. I'm there with my partner at the time and we had more traffic than anybody (including the hun at that point). And we sit down at a seminar on traffic with our notepads and pens ready to learn something. Within 20 minutes we walked out as it was just total nonsense being spewed onstage. I finally gave up around 2001 even bothering with "seminars". Especially when I was making a fortune late at night at parties cutting deals and then they would schedule the seminars starting at 9 a.m.! I went to a couple at Cybernet in S.F. a couple of years ago and they were more interesting. But again, didn't make me a dollar. If I'm not gonna make money, I'm at least gonna have fun. And getting up early in the morning to listen to guys and girls spamming onstage when I have a hangover ain't my idea of fun at a convention. Just my opinion. I'm sure that if a person is new to the industry or new to a particular facet of the industry that a seminar can be helpful. Me? I'd rather meet up with the owners of the companies that specialize in what I'm interested in over drinks and whores and get some business done. But that's just my style. |
Was the seminar about the t-shirt business?
Was anyone selling hotdogs? http://fun.ez-learn.eu/wp-content/up...otdog-cart.jpg |
@Robbie. that's true, that's why I also stopped going to the seminars and just had fun. Wouldn't it be wonderful if someone used one of those methods though?
Was it Spannow's seminar that your talking about? I just hope that things change, and they become more helpful, specially since a lot of people are getting jaded. |

I hate seminars. Especially the ones where the moderator generates all the content from the attendees' input. Most of them are dumb and think "what a great seminar this was"...
|
So did they have a good sales pitch?
