Digital Camera question
Hello you all!
Want to buy a decent yet affordable digital camera mainly for taking pictures of models (in t-shirt and nudes). Already bought 2 "studio" umbrella kits and a tripod, now it's time to buy the main hardware for the job. Which model do you recommend for a strict budget of $500? Thanks in advance! |

either
http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CD0Q8wIwAg# or http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CG4Q8wIwAw# First one will work great and you can upgrade lenses, second one you're pretty much done with it but it shoots video too and is under your $500 budget. |

I have the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi one Jon Oso suggested and I have only good things to say about it.
You can buy it even cheaper if you look for a refurbished one. I know people argue about buying refurbished products, but the truth is they pass many more tests than the regular products before making their way to the shop plus you get them with warranty as well. Mine is a refurbished one, have been using it for 2.5 years now and so far I have 0 complaints.

Olympus EVolt 300, older camera that you can find great deals on. Very reliable with upgradable lenses etc.

For your needs I would say either the Canon XS, XSi, or T1i if $500 is your max budget. I would also suggest the Canon 50mm 1.8 lens (around $90)

I would say look into buying a used Canon 40D which is much better than the Rebel series as far as professional functions are concerned.
You can change settings and function on the fly without scrolling through a lame menu. You may not need this camera now, but you can easily mature into it with out having to buy another camera later down the road. Get a nice 24-70mm lens which glass is the most important |

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
(Whatever you choose, make sure you go with Canon. I've been shooting a long time and Canon's always done me right. I prefer them over any other manufacturer.)

I agree, but don't think he can buy a used Canon 40D and a 24-70mm lens for $500. That lens alone cost over $1K, unless you're talking about some other 3rd party manufacturer. |

The Canon Rebel line is very nice for that price range.

I have both the Sony Dsc-f828 and the Dsc-r1
Both great cameras... Dsc-r1 is a newer sensor and takes better photos. You can find them used for <$300 |
