Thanks. I started really young so by the time I was ready for university I had already shipped 3 complete self-made video games in assembley. So I went to school for mechcanical engineering.

My current contract ends in about 5 weeks and I'm just trying to line things up ahead of time. I do like to keep contracts one-at-a-time to make sure you get my full attention.

At first I used to be a bit shy about mentioning it, but after so long in the biz, and having so many titles (I used to do video games for Sega, Nintendo, PS1, PS2 and now PS3 / XBox), it really doesn't matter.

Think about it, let's say I got a degree in 1988, or 1992, or even 1997, what good would it be now?

I think the biggest thing I bring to the table is I am really super anal about theory rather than just code. Knowing how to keep your program functions seperate until the last minute when it all comes together helps to keep it organized and easy to work with.

I'm totally in agreement with you, I just wonder if the typical person that is in charge of human resources departments and hiring is flexible enough to realize that they might be better off with self taught genius than someone with a piece of paper

When I was looking for full time work, I would interview companies I will work with, after they interviewed me. At one place, I asked the boss who attended the interview, a question ( didnt really want to work with them this is why I asked this question ) :

"If the customer wants feature X, and the programmers/producers say it isn't feasable, for whatever reason, who do you side with?". Naturally he blurted out that the customer is always right, that it's important to make sure he is happy and that the programmers should really figure out how to do it. I responded "So you put your loyalties with the customer, who could go someplace else, rather than be loyal to your employees, who could go someplace else?". I then asked if I was to replace an employee...that went someplace else.

Bosses seem to have completely different standards when it comes to computer geniuses. They will hire a schizophrenic 17 year old who failed every subject in school, but just won a national coding competition. And they will pay him plenty.
