Discuss what's fucking going on, and which programs are best and worst. One-time "program" announcements from "established" webmasters are allowed.

What hotel chain has the best rewards program?

Ok GFY travelers -

What hotel chain has the best program?

I've used Hilton & it's a joke. The number of avg stays needed to get a free night is high and they have petty, nonsense "perks" like 2 free sodas per stay.

Starwood looks pretty good. Any others that are better?

I like Starwood. Hotels.com is good if you want free stays. You get one free night for every 10 that you book and you're not limited to one hotel chain.

The Hilton Gold Amex card is a pretty good deal, you can instantly get Gold or even Diamond status for co-branding your Amex card with them. Other than that, Starwood is the program of choice.

The Marriot has a reward system don't think it's best but it's something.

If seeking out the cheapest deals, ask long-haul truckers and traveling building contractors where they stay...

Sure the places they stay at often aren't as fancy, but on the other-hand, many of the cheaper places often provide more value as in having refrigerators and microwaves in every room along with free breakfast and unlimited wifi whereas the high-end places often charge extra for that stuff. And the service of many of the econo places is often very good.

What are the features of the "best" rewards programs?

I have Marriott Rewards and apart from the free stays and merchandise, depending on your level, you get gifts in your room and if the hotel is full, they will walk someone to make room for you. The program is so desired that couples fight over the points during a divorce.

I belong to other programs as well but Marriott is my first choice, especially for international travel.

You speak the truth. Ritz is owned by Marriott.

I don't stay in Hotels much but when I had my house fire I had to stay in a Marriott and I got two free night and that helped out. I don;t know what would make any program the "best".

I hate the expensive chains for the fact that they charge for wifi and other simple amenities you get for free from the value chains, makes no fucking sense to me as a consumer. I'm a member of most programs but rarely get enough points to become elite simply because I chose by location and spread out my stays across too many places.
Holiday Inn Express is my current favorite chain since they remodeled most of the properties.
