:stop An easy, free and effective way to Protect Your Paysite agains Piracy

Here is my suggestion on how you can improve the your content protection system. The idea is very simple and it's based on the same principle as email verification on message boards (e.g. gfy.com).

So when the surfer is gonna to enter the member's area, he will be asked to enter his login and password as usually. When everything is entered and checked the surfer will be redirected to the intermediate page which with a message like that:

Quote:
Dear [login_name],

To enter the member area, you have to follow the confirmation URL which was sent to your email. This is an extra security measure to fight the piracy.

Thank you for understanding!
Now, the customer opens his email box (this shouldn't be a problem because it takes additional more seconds only) and sees there a new message:

Quote:
Dear [name from credit card],

Please click the following URL, to enter the member area of [paysite name]: [URL*]

Thank you!
The last action the customer will need to enter the members area is to click the given URL and vuala, he is there!

So guys and girls, what do you thing about this method? Perhaps you can suggest something to improve it, because it's just an idea, as as any other idea it's always open for the improvements.

__________________________________________________ __________________
* the URL will contain some unique code which was generated on the paysite side
when login and password were successfully matched.

It would work but it sounds like a way to piss the member off.
But it could save down the users IP when he clicks on the link in the mail and the next time the user wont have to login via mail if the IP is the same.
If the user got a new IP he will have to click the link again.

I've said it before and will say it again.

It won't stop piracy taking our money.

So many sites have content that's not individual enough to make it worth saving the effect on incomes will be low. So what if you've the only site with Jane Smith on. She's just another girl shot in a way every one else shots her that the free surfer will take from somewhere else.

And loss of income is the only thing people hate. Piracy has been around from day 1 of the Internet. Until it started to cost money no one really cared.

Paul, why don't you start your own board called something like paulmarkhamsbrokenrecord.com and just post there every day saying the same old shit you always say?

Just an idea...

I don't think it will. Actually how many times a day the average surfer have to do this?

However with such an improvement it will work even better, because it sufficiently reduces the email confirmation use. Thanks for the tip

this doesn't really stop piracy , this stops password trading. not a huge impact on sales. but a good idea either way.

I'm not sure how that stops somebody from downloading your content and reuploading it?

Sounds like your method is really a way to try and ensure that the person logging in isn't using a hacked password...not protection against piracy.

That's already not a problem for most sites using companies like phantomfrog (like we do).

But this solution you're talking about doesn't do anything to stop people from joining, downloading, and then re-uploading. Which happens massively everyday. Those millions of links full of ripped members area scenes on pornbb dot org weren't put there by password hackers. They were put there by guys who joined the sites and then uploaded the scenes to file sharing sites.

won't work, too many members don't use real email addresses, and the ones who will rip your site and stick it on the likes of rapidshare are usually the ones using proxies and stolen cards.

The newest strategy to combat piracy is to simply delete all the videos from your members area. Reports have come in saying this solution works hands down.

The same as with a hickup on the paysite. Don't see any problem here.

That's what DVTimes did on his flagship title www.vanbabes.com from day 1. It's NEVER had a single video on it.

That cat is ahead of the game, you all look down on him for doing nothing than posting shit links to shit stories on the BBC website, but you need to look deeper. Man got game, yo.

password sharing is not a key problem today
it can be stopped by smart monitoring of password use and that is enough

additional security will be too inconvenient for users

and this will not stop content sharing and piracy at all..

The key to ending piracy is very simple.
Go after the sites that allow the upload.

But it's easier said than done of course.

Password sharing are piracy and definitely seperate issues. Adding more hoops for user login won't necessarily stop piracy with so many free anonymous email services around.

The problem with this strategy is that it upsets new members ..maybe make the members area a simple page full of links to the top 50 tube sites ? ...this way your members get to stream all the latest content ...instant updates etc and it requires no effort and no huge bandwidth charges ..its a win-win for the site owner and surfer...

AngEl, I won't agree with you at all. Yes, content sharing ins the main problem, but password sharing/theft/fitting is a prat of it, and it can be prevented.

cyberxxx most sites out here have had protection against password sharing/theft for years. It's not even an issue when it comes to piracy. Everybody is already using phantomfrog and strongbox (i use phantomfrog).

Piracy is coming from people joining for a few days, downloading the entire site, and then uploading it to file sharing sites. Not from password hacking.
