![]() Back in Jan I had went to the Dr's because I was feeling fatigued, sluggish, and my blood pressure was up. I would feel it throughout the day for no apparent reason, even when I went to bed. I went and had all of the blood work done, and what not. A few things where high and low, but over all nothing of major concern.
That said, I changed my diet shortly after going to the Dr's. I picked up a few cook books, cut out almost all of my fast food/eating out except for maybe one day a week, and also cut down my Diet Coke intake daily down by 75% and switched off to Sobe water. Some how in 2 months, despite eating 2-3 times more food. Drinking easily 10-20 percent more fluid daily, and without exercise, I have managed to drop 12 lbs. My blood pressure I had been taking once a day since the last Dr's appointment and it's dropped back into the 'norm' of 118/60 or something to that effect today at the office. Both the DR, and myself, were shocked to say the least. Something so little as a few lifestyle changes making such a big difference in a few months time. Impressive... |

Diet coke is worse than regular coke.
The sweetner triggers insulin that isn't needed and fucks your sugar levels up completely. That plus the fact aspartame causes fuck knows how many different problems. And Good for you! ![]() |

![]() *cackle*
* I cut down on Diet Coke. I have not been able to completely eliminate it yet. * I cut out most sugar or those other artificial sweeteners. * I rarely buy ANYTHING frozen/processed any more. * I switched to turkey breast as substitute for ground beef in almost all recipes. * I drink a TON of that Sobe water, or other substitutes for the cola. My food bill has probably went up by 2-3 times eating fresh and healthier. I also have to now go to the grocery store every 5-10 days. Compared to once a month when I would buy everything frozen, dinners, etc.. I used to literally have my freezer FULL with everything and microwaved more than half my food. I barely even use my freezer now. |

nicely done.. good to see results when you make big changes. Normally food lifestyle changes only alter things a little bit about 5-10% with bp so some good numbers for sure. Maybe all the effort involved with the cooking and all the research has helped with some stress too. Stress has huge affects on the bp, that I know for sure.
I've noticed that being around dogs more seems to have lowered my stress levels and bp. It's been years since i have been around them but in the last 4 or 5 months I have noticed the changes. My guess is that when you are around them you are laughing more and there is something about having someone who is always insanely happy to see you every time you enter the room.. hehe I mean, i have a girlfriend and she is great, but if she was that happy around me every time i walked in a room I would run for the hills!

wrong... I agree that there are better things to drink other than diet coke but the real thing is worse for you because it will make you fat and hinder your insulin levels much more than a sweetener would. People not getting type-2 from diet soda, they are getting it from too much sugar...

I am a big believer in foods and how they can change your body.
Every now and then I will experiment with something and see how it impacts the way I feel. Testing it right now with more water and vegetables, significant difference.

I stopped drinking Monster and lost about 8 lbs in about 6 weeks with no other changes. I don't need to lose weight but I feel better without that sugary shit.

I drink diet pepsi not diet coke, but a can of diet pepsi has 30mg of sodium. Processed foods are horrible for sodium. Frozen pizza's etc. will all easily put you over 100% of your sodium intake for the day.

Yeah if you look at the recommended serving size on lets say a DiGiorno frozen pizza (plain), it's like 1/6th! Now MOST people cut pizza into 8ths to begin with, so you just imagine for a moment cooking up one of those, slicing it into your regular 8ths and limiting yourself to 1 and 1/2 slices! It AINT GONNA HAPPEN. Thats about 4 bites, lol.
Even if you manage to, you're already at your daily allowance.

I have had trouble eliminating the soda as well. I am down to only at lunch and on the rare occasion when I am out.
Cut back on fats as well and sugar. when I need to eat something thats supposed to be sweetened I use Honey.

The sooner you eat in the day, the sooner your metabolism starts working... Ever notice how if you eat an early breakfast you are starving by 11am, but if you skip it you aren't hungry all day?
